Customer Questions & Answers

Would this fit into a regular GFCI outlet?

I have a regular GFCI (with test/reset buttons) in my rental bathroom but need more than 2 outlets. None of the extenders I've purchased fit into this type of outlet and I really don't want a power strip on my vanity. Thanks!
Asked by: Jennifer
I " WOULD NOT" use this for your bathroom outlet that already has the GFCI! Normally the bathroom circuit breaker is 15AMPS, so if you start plugging in a Blow Dryer, Hair Curler, etc., your flirting with trouble! And right by your sink/water? A good reason why those extenders won't work! Please do not do this! For yours and everyone else's SAFETY!!!! Do not use that power strip either,,,I am not an electrician, but you could start a major fire for your landlord...

Does this fit plugging into a gfci outlet

Asked by: Rc
I am not sure? The main reason I purchased this was that the 3 Prong Electrical Outlet is "NOT" grounded in my garage. Plus, I can use 3 additional plugs without going over the amperage rating (15A) and/or causing a problem. I'm certainly not using heavy duty equipment with this!! By buying this adapter, I am providing a safety measure when using this outlet!

However, there is a protrusion on the back below the plug. I am not sure of its purpose. The adapter does not fit flush with the socket because of the protrusion. I have the adapter in a two socket outlet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great! Wish they had these in the store (another major competitor does). The only problem is that it can easily pull out of the outlet this unit is plugged into when unplugging things out of this outlet. Perhaps a redesign where it replaces the faceplate of the outlet and screw into the center would be a better design, but then some amateur DIY's might be too timid to use a screwdriver. Very plasticky, so not sure how durable it is, but given that it's about the same price as a GFCI without the hassle of rewiring, and it's portable, this is pretty ideal. The lower row of outlets will fit two good size adapters, which still leaves the top two outlets free. I haven't tried getting it wet or doing something hazardous on purpose, so can't say if it works for sure, but the manual test button will trip properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly What I Needed! You should sell this in your stores, many people need something like this due to their bathroom electrical fixture only having two outlets and them having more than two things to plug in. I have a radio, a waterpik, and an electric toothbrush, so I needed three outlets. This works perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safety is the most important product in your workshop...this outlet provides that! Excellent product! Have it installed in my garage, where I do a lot of work using electricity. Re-assuring to know this provides an extra safety in the event something goes wrong!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent product at a fair price. Works as advertised. I'm just amazed that this is not a product offered at local Home Depot stores. It appears to have far more sales potential than several other consumer electrical devices offered there.
