Answer:
I waited about 2 days before walking on it just to make sure, it said that it dries overnight but give it 2 days for it to be completely sealed and dry. Fyi, I used it on my basement a few weeks ago before installing trafficmaster tiles. Hope this helps.

Answer:
Hi Charley, this product is a prep type product. Meaning that you apply this product to the floor, wait about 2 hours. Product dries tacky. Then place your peel and stick tiles on top of the surface.
This product is not meant to be walked on as a surface itself. It is meant to be used with another product.

If you follow the instructions, Next day. I applied the 1st primer coat in the morning and the second coat in the afternoon. Instructions say, "Let dry over night" which I did and the next morning it was dry. Actually the product seemed dry after 3 hours, but there is a reason they want you to wait overnight so that is what we did.

Hi Snake,
The manufacturer states the finish dries in one hour. However I would allow several days to pass before installing the floor tile to assure complete curing of the sealer.

Will this product work with non-stick vinyl if we also use a Behr Premium Vinyl Tile Adhesive on the back of the vinyl? I can't find more specifics on this product. Is there a .pdf with more detailed specifics and instructions?

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Seems to be a really good product Product was shipped to my home in the time frame quoted. Instructions were clear and easy to read and follow. 1st time that I have experienced instructions that were printed large enough to actually read. Application was just as the instructions stated and the drying time was shorter, but we still waiting the proper time. The product seems to have provided a good surface for bonding the self-stick tiles. Tiles went down easily and the only additional step we did was to roll the tiles to assure a good bond and to get any air out. Only time will tell how well it performs. Only complaints, not available in the store and a bit expensive based on what is in the product January 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Sealer Used this product to prep a plywood floor for peal-stick tiles. Worked great as advertised. Followed the directions on the can, easily laid out. Went down super smoothly. The tiles seemed to grab and hold without any issue. Wear gloves! This stuff does not come off your skin easily! December 30, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by did not work as described. tiles peeled right up after install. had to rent a resurfacer to remove the product fully. followed instructions fully. Product didn't perform as described. It went down easy and took a few extra days of drytime, but didn't make a good bond. Followed directions to the T, and still had issues. 24 hours after install you could pull tiles up with your bare hands. Very disappointed in the product, i should have followed my first instincts. Also had to rent a resurfacer to remove some residual adhesive from the floor. June 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use and did the job The product was easy to apply which was important as this is my first time using a product of this type. September 24, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by No Problems! This was a good product and easy to use, but just make sure you buy a little more than they recommend by sq footage. You cannot get this in the store, but my opinion is that Home depot should start making this available in the store. They sent me small cans instead of the large one, but I didn't have a problem with that. All in all, a good product. December 27, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great product! Great product to use before installing trafficmaster tiles easy to apply. I let it dry for 2-3 days prior to installation but could be done in a day. My only complaint is that you have to order this online, since its not available in store. Otherwise this is a keeper. August 14, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Please sell this in the store! I used the Basement Proofer to seal my below-grade concrete floor prior to installing TrafficMaster Ceramica peel-and-stick tiles. It worked wonderfully; the tiles stuck extremely well. Keep in mind that you need to apply a watered-down coat followed two hours later by a full-strength coat, and then it must dry overnight. I'm in a very humid climate but had no problems with the drying time. The Basement Proofer was slightly tacky the next day, but it should be tacky because it's creating a stickier surface for the tiles. Using an extension roller, it took me less than 20 minutes to apply each coat to a 750 sq ft, irregularly shaped basement. My only complaint is that Home Depot does not sell this in its stores even though it is required for below-grade installation of the vinyl tiles that Home Depot DOES sell in its stores. You must order online and it seems to take a minimum of 7 days for delivery. Also, my gallon was poorly packaged and very dented upon arrival. It was almost impossible to remove the lid. This wouldn't be a problem if Home Depot sold this in stores. September 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by make sure you have no moisture! Doesn't make a lot of sense. Basement sealer is to keep the moisture out, but can indicates if moisture is present you cannot use the product. So, what do you do? Hope for a really super dry day, I guess. Seems to have worked on a very damp area, but time will tell. Was easy to use, cleaned up easy, just don't know if it works yet.
