Quoted from Allure instruction manual...
allure’s flexibility allows the planks to be installed
over uneven subfloors (see subfloor preparation on
page 5) or existing floors such as natural wood,
concrete, vinyl, linoleum, and even ceramic,
saving you time and money!

Answer:
I would think if it is smooth you should be able to install over existing wood floor. I installed over a wood subfloor but put a 1/4" cork underlayment to add a little cushion, just my preference. I had to make sure all nails and screws were not sticking up any.
I just ordered 500 sf and plan to install over a laminate wood.

Yes depending on the condition of existing floor , all seams and cracks need to be filled and level. if condition of the existing floor is poor I would install an overlay sub floor. and fill the seams to smooth.

We just installed over a plywood floor. I think you can put this on wood or concrete, just need to make sure the surface is (fairly) even. I used floor patch to take some of the low spots out.

Yes, As long as the floor does not have any wood planks that are lifting. If so just make sure you bang the planks down with a hammer prior.

Hello marina and thank you for your question.
The TrafficMaster Allure Apple Blonde Resilient Vinyl Plank Flooring can be installed over wood subfloors; Hardwoods, Plywood, OSB, Luan, Particleboard and Chipboard are approved, but must be sturdy flat and have little flexibility.
Please refer to page 2 of the Installation Instructions for more details.
Best wishes with your project!

I put this flooring in my bathroom with a crawl space with wood sub floor.I put new sub floor in because it needed replacing.I did not use a water proof protection pad under plank flooring. You will need a few starter strips to go on bottom of first row of flooring to keep it level because of the way they overlap each other.Without the strips one box might not be enough.Hope this helps.

Answer:
I would put down a waterproof barrier anywhere there is water present, as for how much to buy I would buy 2 boxes, it is always best to average 10% more than you need, in this case 2 boxes , because If this is your first time doing this, measure twice cut once turns out to be I should have measured 3 times and then cut,, but think first.

Answer:
The floor floats on the subfloor so you should not need a waterproof pad underneath the floor. However, you should make sure your subfloor is level and clean. Any irregularities in the subfloor will reflect on the the flooring material.
Quantity is listed on the box. I believe it was around 24 s.f.. Actual quantity will depend on how much waste that you have during the installation.

We are planning to order this item on line. We are putting it down in two rooms. One room is 11' x 12'. Pretty simple for measurements. The other room is our kitchen. This room measures 13.5' x 14.5'. There will be cutting around cabinets and a built in hutch. Is there a certain percentage we should add for waste when figuring the required amount of flooring needed?

Answer:
You did not say what kind of room was the 11x12 is it a bedroom with closet or a dining area , the kitchen should be easy enough depending on which way you run the boards. all base boards should be removed and new 1/4 round for the hutch should be in your budget. I would again add about 10% and if its your first floor take time to figure the best way to do your lay out.

Answer:
I had almost no waste and ended up with a full box to return, I have about 4 pieces left and only one is to small to use if I had needed it. The key for me was choosing the long direction to hit the places I would need to cut against so that as I cut the last board it was the starting plank of the next row on the other side and this created a natural stagger affect.

We purchased a lot more than we needed. Unlike wood floors, every piece we received was fully usable. The only waste I had was from making mistakes on my cuts. I think I wasted no more than 6 planks in a 12x14 bedroom.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 69 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Should have used laminate!!! Scratches, scuffs, wears, looked worse than the 20 year old linoleum, that I replaced. The only positive is easy to clean and I dont have to worry about water or spills. All this does not make up for the natural wood look! March 2, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good at first We had orginally bought this for our kitchen floor over a year ago, and then we deceided to do our bathroom with this as well. Now I have been noticing that there are small pieces of the top clear coat that are starting to come off, leaving a rough underside exposed. I was happy with the product before, but after a year of wear, not so much anymore. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by this product is worth the money the product goes down great in the large areas , for me it was the door jams that made me nuts, as long as you are careful on your seam matching it looks great. I found out when you start laying floor down, the walls looked bad so had to paint , then floor looked even better, I'm looking at a counter top cutter ,like for paper, heavy duty to cut some really straight clean edges,, closets can be a challenge due to small space.I found that putting down a barrier under the boards would help deaden the empty sound in the room. A oscillating tool for cutting base boards saved a lot of time and money looks clean and a lot easier to install under base boards. December 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great value and easy DIY project This floor was easy to put down, easy to cut and work with. My son and I did placed over 400 square feet with several corner and angled walled cuts in about 4 hours. So far enjoy the product has held up to our expectations, as far as traffic and water spills. Good value for the price July 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great buy. A really great flooring, install was easy and looks great.Cleanup was easy with hardly any mess.I would recommend this and already have to a friend. September 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy installation. Very good appearance and feels solid, less than 5% cutoffs. April 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This purchase has been a great one. It was the easiest floor to install that I've done yet. I've been doing home remodeling and refurbishing for over 20 years, many laminate floors. A few hardwood floors. I did my cuts with a pair of sheetmetal shears and used a utility knife and straight edge on the straight cuts. Just sliced it 2-3 times with the knife, then broke it off. Finished product looked like real wood flooring. The sticky surfaces were just forgiving enough to allow for small adjustments, but strong enough that the final pressure on them made a sealed joint. I'll use it again. September 3, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Happy with our TrafficMaster Allure 6 in. x 36 in. Apple Blonde Vinyl Plank Flooring The planks were easy to install, but man, do my knees hurt! (no fault of the product). My wife helped out with planning the cuts, and laid some of the full pieces. We completed a 12x14 bedroom in less than a day (add a half day for prepping the floor). This included cutting in a floor vent, small entry, and a closet. I am normally a Lowe's shopper, but when we looked for vinyl plank flooring, this was the thickest, had the best adhesive method, and was available in a color we liked. It's been a few weeks now, and we have had no issues. November 6, 2012
