Home Depot has samples of the plank flooring (4" by 4") patterns readily available in the flooring section, or just ask anyone in the store. They also have a display of the planking showing two planks together. Allure Resilient Plank Flooring, Lisbon Cork Light 47512, SKU #173-280. Note that the actual planks are twice as thick as the sample.

I am butting this Traffic Master Allure vinyl up against a ceramic tile floor and wondering about trim for the seam. Exactly how thick are the planks?

I doubt that the two surfaces will be flush, and my expectation is that the surface of the vinyl will be slightly lower than the surface of the tile. There is one small blemish on the edge of the tile and I'd like to cover it up.

Answer:
If you go to your local Home Depot store, they have 4x4" samples of the planks. Each sample is 1/2 the thickness of the planks, so take two samples and put them together; that will give you the actual thickness.

This product is about three sixteenths of an inch thick. You could use a transition piece, available in any home improvement store. They are adjustable for different thickness flooring. You install a metal track, between the surfaces and then snap the cut piece into the track.

The Allure is thin, and probably will not be as high as the tile. There are products available that can fit over the seam and cover the edges of both. Look for vinyl, rubber, or plastic strips designed for this use. The strips can also be used for door openings, and the like.

Consider taking a look at the Hardwood Carpet Reducer Moulding or the Aluminum Seam Binder Transition Strip. I'd suggest looking on-line under flooring, carpet trim; or just go to a store and study the different trims. Put two vinyl samples together and get a better picture of the thickness, or look at the boards with the different flooring types mounted on them at the in-store display. I was unable to determine the product thickness at the Traffic Master Allure web site. Using a little ingenuity, imagination and effort, you're sure to be pleased with the job. Read Less

our tile is 3.8 mm or 5/32" of an inch. Home Depot now has a special order program through a company called Zamma Corporation (60000713). if you take this information to Home Depot you will be able to order a threshold that will make it easier to install and give you a flatter/flush surface.

The end of a strip "might" be used to start the next row and provides staggering of end-joints, providing the overall length is NOT a multiple if 36". Doorways present other concerns. I kept the separation papers and used them to layout the flooring for a section of the floor at a time--before sticking them together. Don't forget the 10% additional for wastage. Look at the manufacturer's/provider's directions and follow them. I'm sorry this is so long, the question implied a concern for estimating the quantity needed. Read Less

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Wouldn't recommend I see the price has gone down. I paid $2.49 a box. It said it was scratch resistant, or they claimed it didn't scratch easy. NOT TRUE, within the first 24 hours my dogs had scratched it with ease. As did moving the couch into place. I am very angry that I spent as much as I did on this flooring THROUGHOUT my house and now, 2 years later, it needs to be replaced because the glue in spots isn't holding as well as bubbling in the top coat of the flooring. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really like this Allure "cork light" finish !! I must say the hardest part is the prep....although I put in more prep than spec's said was necessary. I re-vamped my kitchen and the flooring is the glue that binds it all together. Including a new $800 dishwasher, floor, and complete paint my kitchen;cost is under $1900. NOW THAT'S THE POWER OF THE HOME DEPOT !!!! March 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Allure flooring This product is easily installed and durable. It is a very nice alternative to real cork July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is really good looking vinyl I used this in two bathrooms in a mobile home on Lake Texoma a couple of years ago and liked the way it looked. We recently redid all of the floors in the trailer which included putting a layer of 1/2" plywood down so we had to tear it out. We liked it so much that we have redone both bathrooms and a closet in it. May 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very happy 1 1/2 years later I waited a over a year to write my review because I wanted to see how it held up, and how easy it was care for. Before choosing this product, I read the reviews, and we considered other products. We had spent 41/2 months refinishing the hardwood floors on the first floor of our 90 year old home. This product was to go next the hardwood floor. (We were very pleased with our hardwood floors, but exhausted.) We initially wanted the light bamboo Allure product, but decided that a fake wood grain, no matter how good, wood still look fake next to our now beautiful hardwood floors. So we chose the light cork. I am very happy with my floor. It has held up well. The only complaint I have is that we have an old cart with rubber wheels, and you look real close you can see scuff marks. They do come out. I was amazed that when I discovered a drip of white nail polish that had dried on the floor, it pealed right off! I also spilled some pink fabric paint on it. I wiped this up while still wet. It did not remove completely until I used an eraser sponge on it. But now, you cannot tell where it is. Overall the cork design camouflages the dirt, so I am not compelled to clean it just because of a few crumbs. On the other hand, when I do clean it (I use a swifter mop), it looks just like new! Yes, you can see the lines of the planks if you look closely, but they blend nicely and we usually have to point them out to visitors. I gave it 4 stars because it was not as easy to install as we thought. Cutting off for the first start, and lack of good instructions. Cutting around items was probably easier than laminate, but we still couldn't get a perfect fit. But with quarter round, all looks good. My husband used an oscillating tool to cut under the door trims so we get a smooth fit there. We would choose this product again. May 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install, durable, looks great, great value We installed in a basement home gym in 2010 because it was affordable, easy to install, and floated over the unfinished basement floor so no floor prep needed. It really warms up the room, it's comfortable to walk on, and it still looks great 4 years later. There could be dents under the heavy weight equipment (we haven't tried moving it to see), but if we ever do more it no problem as we bought extra and can just replace small sections as needed. Now we're planning to do the rest of the basement with this. August 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOVE THE CORK LOOK! I love the look of cork floors and wanted it for my bathroom remodel BUT...cork won't work in a bathroom. My nephew who is a contractor had installed several of the vinyl plank floors and said I should look into them. So glad I did! I found Allure had some that look just like cork. They were easy to install and just look terrific! Warm and soft on the feet too. It's only been a few weeks so I don't know about the durability yet but so far I am loving them! February 24, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good quality flooring My daughter installed 400 SF in 6 hours. It looks good, and seems to be wearing well. I am happy with the product, and with the Hadley Home Depot. September 30, 2014
