Customer Questions & Answers

Is this gripper pad non staining? Can i use it on Vinyl plank flooring?

Asked by: Lucy
No. I just tossed a package in the trash. I have lovely new laminate floors. After four days, the waffle pattern was visible under the pad. I had to use laminate floor cleaner (several applications) to remove the marks. Luckily, they did finally come up.

8 ft. x 10 ft. Premium Rug Gripper Pad is rated 1.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product Damages Floors! I had this rug pad on my Travertine floors for three days. When I lifted a corner to trim it, I found out it was firmly attached to my floor. I removed the pad, and was left with dots of the rubberized material stuck to my floor. I cleaned one square of the tile, using a plastic scraper, neutral floor cleaner (as recommended for Travertine floors), followed by buffing with a microfiber cloth. To clean the entire area will take hours. But, worse yet, residue remains. My floor is ruined. I am highly disappointed in the quality of this rug pad.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARNING - POSSIBLE FLOORING DAMAGE Easy to install, worked great for keeping the rug in place. However, in only 6-months time for 2 out of 3 installations of this product on a hard floor the entire gripper pad has decomposed and is now sticking to the floor in thousands of foam dots. The dots do not come up easily with warm water, goo be gone, wallpaper stripper, steam, paint thinner, or a scrubber sponge. This is going to take hours to remove. Either the labeling is not clear what types of flooring and conditions are okay for use or it's a defective design, either way it's definitely not worth the risk. Not looking forward to hours cleaning the floor off and then paying another $50 for a product that is actually stable for use on all flooring types. Looks like this product needs a re-design or just steer clear and buy another product that is clearly labeled.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Left Waffle Weave Imprint on Wood Floor We had this on our floor for approx. 1 month. Took it off to rearrange some furniture, and it left a waffle weave pattern on our new wood floors. I almost cried. I tried to wipe it away with a wet cloth without luck. Then I sprayed bona all over it and mopped it up and let it dry. It was 90% gone. Had to do one more mop over and now, thankfully, it's gone! This thing is going in the trash. Frustrated at the waste of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Really wish I would have seen these reviews before I purchased! I too discovered the staining (waffling) from the gripper when I rearranged my furniture. We have real wood flooring and I had the gripper pad on for maybe 2 weeks. I'm so disappointed. I put the rug back (sans gripper) just so I didn't have to look at the staining anymore. I'll be returning this pad to HD and contacting the company.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT purchase this!!! I wish I could go back in time and NOT purchase this. I rent and put this underneath a hallway runner and our living room rug to keep from sliding around, especially when our hound wants to pounce & play. It has been under each rug for 3.5 months and I'm now replacing the runner we had. I have no idea what I'm going to do to fix the HWF now that pieces of the gripper pad is stuck to it. It also left a pattern on the wood. It was a horrible discovery and not an easy rug swap. I WISH I would've read the reviews online or looked online before going to the store to blindly purchase. I thought buying a rug mat wouldn't require pre-purchase research! I'm dreading the scraping that will be required in the living room 8'x10' rug and I hope this doesn't prevent me from getting our rental deposit back either. Home Depot, pull this product from your shelves!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This Pad is Bad! On a spontaneous purchase, I picked up this pad yesterday. Later in the evening, I read the reviews posted here and knew I was taking a risk of damaging my newly installed hardwood floors. Sure enough, I checked my floor this morning and the pad had left its imprint on my floor. After less than 10 hours! I removed the pad and cleaned the area with a non-abrasive cleaner called Goof Away that removes adhesives safely from finished surfaces. Worked like a charm. Luckily it was only a few hours of traffic. I would only use this pad under an area rug that sits on a carpet. Do Not Buy This Pad.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from RUINED FLOOR DO NOT BUY!!!!! I have never written a review but had to WARN!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!! Ruined my saltillo floors!!! Had it down for only a couple weeks and when lifted half of it is stuck to the floor. Tried goo gone, magic erasers, scrub brush nothing worked. Just got done, I had to take a razor blade to each tile and it took hours. There is still a waffle pattern left on the floor which looks permanent. Will be returning today. So with that said I hope for your sake you do not purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not true 8 x 10 size, smells horrible I didn't read the packaging closely before I purchased it. I bought it to fit under 8 x 10 rug. It was about a foot short each way. Smells like burnt plastic, can't get rid of the smell. Am returning to the store.
