Answer:
I would suggest it. We did with ours and we're glad we did. Lay one plank alone, then lay another with the padding (or something similar) and try them out. I've found there to be a pretty big difference. Our floors are much more comfortable with the padding underneath and we didn't use a thick kind at all. It's time consuming and a hassle, but well worth it.

Sound control underlayment is optional; the less compressive underlayment is preferred. If you need sound dampening, consider a cork underlayment. What is the preferred method for installing this floor? I worry about the noise with a floating floor, but wonder if a glued floor will not hold up as well, due to expansion? Any thoughts?

I think it would really be personal preference, but this product is made to be a floating floor. Once put down, it doesn't move. Even though it is called floating, it is very solid once down.

NO! Our wash machine broke and floor flooded. Water was on laminate no more than 5 minutes when we mopped it up, and floor is ruined. Unfortunately laminate is out of stock, so we may not be able to repair damaged section of floor

Answer:
Yes, this product can get wet but it is recommended to get extremely wet. Fill all expansion gaps with water repellent caulk. Do not allow water or liquids to remain on the floor and seep into the joints. To minimize moisture damage, we recommend applying a thin film of water repellent to joints between planks. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Flooring For The Price If you follow the manufacturers instructions and watch some how to videos, this flooring is easy to install even for someone who hasn't installed flooring before. My wife and I installed it in our dining room and hallway and it took very little time. The wide planks are beautiful. The only downside was that we had to put carpet runners in the area that our large dog walks because the floor is quite slippery to her. Overall an excellent product for the price, .49 per square foot and a definite improvement from the 10 year old carpet. I am looking forward to purchasing more for our living room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Price, Easy Install, High Quality I replaced previously installed laminate flooring that I did not like with this Alameda Hickory, its tongue and groove is very deep and gives an easy snap and lock install, I also rented the laminate floor cutter from Home Depot to help minimize saw dust and debris, it performed well but only does horizontal cuts, so any vertical or technical cuts still have to be done with a saw. The quality is very nice, it has a glossy top coat that gives it a nice shine as well as ease of clean ups, I purchased the flooring on Black Friday and got it for $0.50 a sqft so you can't beat that. Home is still under construction so I only have some simple cluttered photos.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks beautiful This laminate looks amazing in my home. We did the entire house and it really looks like real wood and the color compliments all kinds of furniture. The only draw back I have seen and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the dust and dirt shows because of the darkness of the color and when you clean with regular cleaners it leaves streaks and they aRe noticable . We had to get a special laminate cleaner and that worked better but you have to make sure you use a clean pad to clean each room because if the pad gets too dirty the streaks appear. All in all I am happy but will be cleaning more often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Beautiful' We installed approximately 1000 Sq. ft. It was fairly easy to install my husband and two teenage sons put it in. We love it and everyone that comes over isays it looks fantastic and very expensive! Easy to clean. I've tried all the recommendations and the best is buying the O'Cedar Hardwood and More microfiber mop. Taking the pad off and wetting it with warm water, completely ringing it out and mopping a area at a time. It's the easiest and does not leave streaks. The water and vinegar mixture recommendation leave streaks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from better than wood Have had solid wood, engineered wood & most recently this laminate. Of the 3; this laminate is the most durable & resilient. All 3 DO have issues with moisture (cupping/raised edges), so consider having a sealer applied to the seams after installation. That said; this laminate (8 months old) has withstood furniture dragging, items being dropped, etc like nothing I've ever seen. Both the laminate & the engineered wood were floating floors, which are much noisier than the glue/nail down (clicking dog toenails,etc)-so if noises bother you, that's a consideration. Terrific product overall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This floor is beautiful I am a 47 year old female and my 22 year old daughter and i installed this floor in my mobile home. Its beautiful, its been in almost a year and its held up great!! We have 3 dogs one is a pitty and not one scratch. It was easy to install, especially for two females who didnt have a clue what they were doing, just take your time. Its not hard and the results are beautiful and well worth the time!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for This product is very inexpensive and looks VERY good which brings the value up. But, due to its cheap cost you get the lowest quality. In terms of the locking mechanism, this product became very frustrating. It's so thin that when you lightly tap it into place with a mallet, you sometimes fractured the sides, thus, not allowing the NEXT piece to securely lock into it. Also, if you have ANY inconsistencies in the concrete (or whatever floor you're laying it on), these WILL come apart later on down the road. This project was extremely frustrating for us because we'd get 5 feet of track laid when we would realize that an entire row was coming undone. What's frustrating is that I laid that thing SO tight before moving on so I couldn't understand why they were coming apart. This could be because it's my wife and I first time doing this type of project, so our inexperience is most likely due to our own frustration. But to those who said, "This is an easy project even for those who've never done this before," I'd like to kindly add my two cents and say that's not true!
