Will heavy furniture leave a dent?

Asked by: Joe
Yes...but you can use some cushions or flat pieces made to disburse the weight over a larger surface and thereby eliminating most of the indentation.

Asked by: Fullsg2424
Yes it will, but why not just pull up the laminate and install this on the sub-floor directly.

what is the best cleaning product for this type of floor

Asked by: Louis66
Thank you for your question. We recommend using a quality pH balanced vinyl cleaner. This cleaner is sold at the Home Depot: http://www.homedepot.com/p/OdoBan-128-oz-No-Rinse-Neutral-pH-Floor-Cleaner-9361B61-G/202625117

can you use a steam mop on this floor

before I buy a steam mop for this floor cleaning I would like to know if it is safe to use on my allure resilient plank floor installed several years ago by Home Depot. Due to my age I need something a little easier to use to clean my floor.
Asked by: nellie
Good day. I don't claim to be an expert, but I love my floor and have had it about 6 months. I have opted not to use my steam mop. My theory is that since these planks are held together by strips of sticky paper, that I don't want the floor any wetter than necessary. I use my Swiffer with the wet pads(They don't create the water/moisture of a steam mop) and then spray the floor if necessary with some 409 cleaner to help be sure it's getting clean. This helps without so much moisture getting between the planks. It seems to work for me without having to work to hard.

Do you need the roller (shown in the video) for installation or can you press down manually on the planks to get the same result?

Asked by: AJ123
Thank you for your interest in Allure Cherry Resilient Vinyl Plank Flooring. It is strongly recommended that you use a hand roller and a 75 to 100 lb roller to ensure seams are tight.

I have this in my Kitchen for approx 8+ years with six large dogs (not at once) - I have to say very little scratching and wear and tear - (there's definitely a limit to the surface like dragging the ottoman back and forth) I had the bright idea of trying to replace "a few" of these and to my amazement it worked - going very slow to dislodge the boards where needed - To my real surprise is you can't tell the difference from old to new... Even the Sales person said it wouldn't match....I know this isn't the best way to do it - but for me it worked. - Just an FYI - if you use one of those "shark" steamers and are not careful - it will sear the finish off in seconds...

My father helped install this over the weekend in my basement, and it took about 2 days, since my basement has some hard angles within it. I had spent a lot of time looking at reviews on Home Depot, so I wanted to share my experience, in case it can help anyone else. I have an all concrete basement, and we decided to use a 6 mill Plastic poly (as recommended by Allure) as a vapor barrier, just in case. We taped the plastic sheating down, and then installed the tiles right over it. This was the poly I went with: http://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-10-ft-x-100-ft-Clear-6-mil-Plastic-Sheeting-CFHD0610C/204711636?keyword=6+mill+poly (A bit pricey, but I wanted to be sure it was 6 mill) I have included some photos of before and after. Love the look!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I just recently installed the cherry Allure Gripstrip floating floor in the basement of my home. ... I just recently installed the cherry Allure Gripstrip floating floor in the basement of my home. My rating shows that yes I would recommend this produce but in reality I haven't had it in for more than a week so time will tell. I found it very easy to install and I do like the looks plus it appears that it will be very easy to clean. As you install the floor you really need to "pick" from more than one box at a time so as to distribute the slight variations in color throughout the floor. As I said above, I installed this flooring on an older concrete basement floor that has been in place for well over 15 years. The basement is very dry with well drained soil conditions throughout the property - newer construction and moisture has never been a problem. I have several "butt joints" that will not stay glued down - I have rolled these plus as per the HD website have even warmed them with a hair drier to reactivate the glue and re-roll but still experiencing the same problem. I called the 800 number and was told that a moisture barrier is needed on concrete floors. I was somewhat dismayed to hear this as I asked the sales associate at HD and was told that yes you can put this product down directly over a concrete floor - the box leads you to this same conclusion as do the directions that are included inside the box (page 6). However if you continue on reading the included directions you will find a a table on page 8 (in very small font) that states if the moisture test on a concrete floor rage from 0-5% a 6 mil poly barrier is required - why don't they just say that a poly barrier is needed over all concrete floors since you'll never be less than zero on a moisture test? In conclusion, the manufacturer stated that the "butt joint" problems are due not using a moisture barrier. I don't agree with their statement as all of these "butt joint" problems are located in the same area of the floor and the entire floor was installed in the same manner at the same time. Also the number of the "butt joint" problems match the number of flooring pieces in a box witch leads me to think that there was a problem with the glue strip on one of the boxes and that it isn't a moisture problem. The manufacturer is sending me some adhesive to re-attach the "butt joints". Hopefully this takes care of the problem but time will tell. I don't think moisture is the problem but the manufacturer does - it just seems like it would be much easier to just state on the box and in the directions "that a moisture barrier is needed over all concrete surfaces". This would be far simpler than making you jump from section to section in the directions and finding the note in an almost un-readable table. I will re-post after receiving and installing the new adhesive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful floor!!!! This product does take some time to install but by taking your time our floor looks beautiful. It did take 2 day full days to install but we made sure to roll all seems as we laid the flood and took the time to make sure that the seems were tight. This floor cleans up easily and feels great on your bare feet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, a nice enough floor I have this in a small hallway that's unheated, so I will have to review it again after it has been through warm and cold seasons. It's very easy to install and very forgiving of a less than optimum flooring surface. Mine's installed over very old, gappy boards with ancient linoleum on top. My problem with the look is that these planks fit together so tightly, it has the appearance of patterned sheet flooring. If I use this product again, I will buy several different colors to see if I can get it to look more realistic.

It still looks like new despite 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 3 children. We have not had any problems with gaps or opening seams. It was installed over concrete mostly with only one room having a wood subfloor. We purchased it during a black friday sale for about a dollar a sq ft. I particularly like the wood grain look and feel under my feet. I recommend making sure the floor is clean and as free of dust as possible before installing. Also, make sure there are no nail heads sticking up as these will be visible bumps on the finished installation. My favorite thing about this floor is that if the cats knock over their water dish and it sits there wet on the floor for hours there are no damages to the floor. We have also had a leak in the kitchen and another in the bath and neither one damaged the floors. I have had all kinds of floors in the past, wood, carpet, finished concrete, sheet vinyl, tile. These vinyl planks are the easiest to care for, the most durable, and the nicest looking ones I have had so far. Perfect for a family with children and pets.

This 'Cherry' plank product bears NO color resemblance to the photo presented. The planks are brown, plain and simple. Additionally, the sheen varies from box to box from a barely satin to an absolutely dull, flat matte. Lifeless. I speak with experience having purchased 61 boxes! Also the same knot hole pattern repeats itself so often that it's difficult to place the planks without drawing obvious attention to the lack of variety. The only way I was able to salvage this cheese was to apply a satin polyuretahane coat of Covertech VinylGuard. Not cheap. This made a world of difference providing contrast and color that really pops..the way it should have come out of the box. Nevertheless, it is still very much 'brown', not 'cherry'.
