The manufacturer says nothing is required, but to make sure any cracks in concrete are sealed and cured 24-48 hours or so before laying the vinyl flooring. I didn't have concrete, only wood, so I could not answer this 100%.

Yes. You should lay a underlayment. I would consider another Allure. We put the Dark Walnut in a few weeks ago and it does nothing but scratch & scuff! I do not recommend!

as long as the floor is straight and level to your acceptance you do not need an underlayment, though if its a basement you should put down some paint or something to keep humidity out.

If you absolutely know that there is no moisture than yes you can avoid using the 6 mill poly...but if the flooring fails due to moisture you run the chance of the warranty not being covered.

Do you have any information regarding floor preparation before laying down Allure vinyl plank floors? Do you need a thin layer of UNISON™ 2-IN-1 underlayment prior to installation?

I'm not a pro, but I believe just as long as your floor is clean, dry and pretty much level, you can lay the vinyl planks right down on the base floor. This is a floating product. The finished floor is quiet and soft to the feet. I've put it in my kitchen and master bathroom and love it.

Why are you using the underlayment? Is there a problem with the floor? If there is no problem with your floor and you are only using that product because of moisture or you think you need it because you have to use it for laminate flooring than no underlayment is needed.

The only thing you need is a flat and level surface that meets your needs. I installed over a floor with some minor gradual bumps because I didn't care about it. Installing Luan or similar 1/8" playwood underlayment can and does help level an uneven floor and can lead to a better install.
Also, if installing in basement, moisture barrier is important.
Other than that, floor leveling mix can be useful. Read More

Thank you for your question...no we do not recommend any type of soft underlayment when installing Allure. Just make sure your Floor flatness is 3/16” over 8’ for original (grip strip) and 1/8” over 4’ for Ultra.

There are several samples at the store but saw this online. I am looking for something that has texture to it like the Espresso oak or the sawmill cut. Does this have a smooth finish or a "scrapped" feel

Very well textured. Much more so than even the higher end laminates. It is very true to a walnut plank. Definitely has a scraped finish and adds so much in depth to the overall product. That I didn't need an underlayment or poly for moisture sealed the deal.

Hi majixjen,
All TrafficMaster Allure wooden vinyl planks have a slight raised wood grain texture to them.
This one is the standard grain, but it doesn't have the sawmill cut to it. It will state on the sample or here on the website that it does indeed have that hand scraped or milled texture.

You can caulk. I am using a sable poly caulk for my seams that I didn't get 100% right. But in a bathroom environment you will definitely want to not get water underneath. Although this is a highly water resistant material to begin with you don't want moisture trapped.

Caulk along the tub before installing the vinyl. You can even put caulk and then install vinyl right into the caulk. Then be sure to wipe away all the excess right away. Then put a bead of clear silicone caulk along the top edge.

I just installed this in both my bathrooms. I taped off the tub and the floor with painters tape and caulked it. I used Pergo Simple Solutions Sealant and matched it to the flooring! Looks great and it keeps the water out. Just remember to pull the tape while the caulk is still wet so it doesn't pull it up!

You will need to caulk around your tub to keep the water out. Now days, you can find caulk in a few different colors so just use one as close to the color flooring as you can get and that should work.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A very good product Assembly was as easy as advertised, and the product was not difficult to cut. A test of the flooring's water resistance proved to be up to it's claim as well. August 9, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Only OK Not as easy to install as you might think, very difficult to deal with in tight areas, it will grab when you're not ready. Have a hair dryer handy when this happens, you may or maynot be able to save last piece installed. I can see how a large room would be easier. But for me I would use allure Ultra click together next time, much easier to keep joints straight, the click together forces you to stay straight. also this Allure scuffs easy no matter how careful you are moving heavy items back in place, even my knee pads skuffed new floor during installation. Durability remains to be seen. April 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful! But not as easy as I thought.. I decided to go with these resilient planks after seeing them on TV and doing much research. They seemed pretty easy to install even for an amateur which I very much am. These floor planks would be extremely easy to install in a perfectly square or rectangular room, however I installed them in my bathroom. The worst part was fitting around the toilet. The planks do not cut easily in odd shapes, they like to snap in straight lines. So if you're doing a square room, I HIGHLY recommend. These floors really do feel like hardwood and look amazing. But be weary if you need to cut around anything. April 21, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Awful! Don't get this flooring! It scuffed the first day, even though we put felt pads on our furniture like advised. Nothing gets the scuffs out and Traffic Master told us they couldn't help us since scuff marks aren't covered under warranty. Scratches easily, shows every bit of dirt or dust and must be cleaned daily. I hate this floor! May 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Flooring The only problem we have had is finding the manufacturer's recommended cleaner for this floor at Home Depot. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Traffic Master Flooring This flooring is tough but beautiful at the same time. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great flooring! The flooring was very easy to lay and looks great! We've had many compliments on it. We put it in our rental last year and it's held up very well. We just purchased more to put in our bathroom. Would recommend to anyone. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Durable and great quality This product was very quick and east to install. No experience necessary! Minimal tools required. Great for a bathroom, bedroom, closet, laundry room or kitchen. The planks seal together nicely. Cutting the planks to size is easy as well. August 25, 2015
