Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this Color, Only buy the plank version. This color Dark Walnut should be a regular stock color. It was discontinued couple years ago and now is a special order. Awesome color to go with today’s décor style. We used the dark walnut plank to replace our defective Allure Corfu tile flooring that the seams wouldn’t stop opening after 7 months from install. We have the Allure Golden Maple in the Living Room, Dining Room and main hallway for over 5 yrs now, Love it!!!! January 2, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great product for the price I purchased this flooring over two years ago and installed it throughout my entire main floor living area except for the kitchen. I live in an older home and the original subfloor was not in that great, so to be on the safe side I installed a 3/8 subfloor first. Plus I wanted to bring the allure flooring up to the same level as the ceramic tile in the Kitchen. This was one of the easiest floors I have ever laid and it still looks great. The seams are nice and tight and the overlap design makes it a breeze to install. It installs in ½ the time of real hardwood and costs a fraction of the price I chose this floor over hardwood because we have a large German Shepherd and his nails would have destroyed a natural hardwood finish in a matter of months. Like I said…I installed it over two years ago and it still looks great. Keep in mind that it is not commercial grade and it will scratch and scuff if abused. But it will take normal everyday use and stand up to a lot of wear and tear. I would highly recommend this product if you are a DYI’er and budget conscious. October 26, 2010
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nice when it works. Horrible when it doesn't PROS: - relatively easy to lay just have to make sure that the seams are lined up - great for high traffic areas. Have 3 large dogs and after 1 year they would have destroyed hardwood. - better than laminate as it doesn't chip when you drop items. - No hollow sound when walked on, unlike laminate flooring. - once your section is completed doesn't move. - very easy to cut and shaped to fit around walls and corners. - no power tools needed. All that is required is an sharp cutter and ruler. CONS - adhesive isn't great and after 6 months started separating. Tried every type of adhesive on the market with no success. - again with the adhesive ensure that floor you are working on is completly free of any debris and/or dust. If the adhesive gets coated then you might as well toss that plank. - wouldn't choose it for concrete as offers no insulation I would not use this product again for the simple fact that when the adhesive holding the planks together decides to let go then you'll be looking at a horrible mess. You won't be able to remove planks and insert new one. The only other option would be to cut out that section complete and glue the replacement plank to the subfloor. The floor that I layed in the basement is coming apart and I'm getting ready to rip it all out and lay carpet instead. If you're looking for flooring stick with hardwood, laminate, or linolium. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DON'T USE THIS STUFF! Like the title says, DON'T USE THIS STUFF unless you plan on having many hours of frustrating work. It's supposed to go on the floor just like laminate or engineered wood. The description says it's Easy GripStrip instillation allows the user to install an entire floor cleanly, easily in just a few hours. Not true! It also says that its unique interlocking-edge is designed for simple installation. The user simply lays the overlapping GripStrip of one plank on the adjacent plank and press together. Yes, that's the principle but it's NOT simple, and the planks don't just snap together. They have to be forced like you're trying to install the old 7 mil laminate - and even then they don't automatically stay together. The foundation of this 'laminate' is rubber so it doesn't have the strength to hold the planks together unless you really force them in place and even then, they can easily split apart later on. I've had a number of joints split apart on the floor. The darn thing is that I've laid 7 laminate floors in the past, from 7 mil to 15 mil. Althought the 7 mil stuff is a challenge (ends can break or wear and so one board won't slide or snap onto the other board, the result being you can end up wasting some boards), I've successfully done three rooms with the stuff. 13.3 & 15 mil go on well and stay together well. Again, if you enjoy sweat, frustration, opportunities to use 'inappropriate' language and, of course, going back a number of rows to reconnect boards that split apart so as to be able to fight your way to where you had to go back then, go for it. I'm going to leave this rating and an abbreviated comment for all of Allure's plank vinyl flooring of this type. The principle of installation is the same therefore the experience will be the same. I'm seriously thinking of taking it off and putting some wood laminate or some engineered wood instead. That'll be later, when I can afford it. Oh, on the positive side, it looks pretty good when you're done if you don't mind seeing the split sections. October 22, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product for the price & self installation I've layed square vinyl flooring before when I was 20, so figured this would be a piece of cake. And it was and I'm 54! Order enough to make a mistake or two. Double check your measurements is one important tip I would suggest and look at all your pieces before laying them down. I did find at least 6 planks that had slight defects. One had a bad one. Others I could live with, but I'm picky, so these went in the closet, since they wouldn't be noticed there. Otherwise great and easy to install. Oh...difficult to cut length wise...otherwise easy to cut. Looks and feels great, now to do new baseboards so I can move the toilet back. No more carpet, yeah!
