Customer Questions & Answers

i am taking up my laminent floor. Can I put the allure tile over the floating pad that I had under my laminent floor?

Asked by: Anonymous
You should remove the floating pad. If you dont it can cause failure at the overlap seems. You want this product to be flat as possible.

I have old, cracked peel'n'stick tiles on my kitchen floor. Do I have to scrape those up BEFORE I put down the vinyl planks?

Some of the tiles have corner chunks out of them. Will this affect the vinyl planks?
Asked by: Drummergirl
We laid this over existing vinyl and glued down foam padding. It worked great, you can't feel the difference between flooring or the other flooring at all.

Laying it is fairly simple, but floating flooring is easier, and cutting it sucks. I like power tools, the utility knife requires more effort. Shipping the floors sucked!!! They arrived a week and half after the estimated date and the pallets that they were stacked on collapsed and the flooring crashed to the ground as soon as the wrapping was cut! Overall I like the flooring, but it could be better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! Good thick quality, so easy to install and lots of color choices. I've put this in my own home as well as several rental and flip properties. People often mistake it for real wood :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific flooring option at a reasonable price! This flooring is idiot-proof. Seriously. It installs very easily and looks great. Spills bead up on the surface and remove with no problem. Doesn't scratch or mar with dog paws. I put this in a guest bedroom and am now planning to install it on 3 other flooring projects--two more bedrooms and the kitchen. I've read other reviews that mention a smell associated with the floor which I did NOT notice after the first day. This is a terrific flooring option at a reasonable price for anyone interested in a quick fix flooring solution. I'm a 64 yr old woman, I installed it myself and I had no problem! Like I said, idiot-proof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEAUTIFUL FLOOR, EASY INSTALLATION This vinyl flooring was even easier to install than laminate. We only needed a utility knife to cut it. It took my husband & me approximately 5 hours to install the floor in my 11' x 11' sewing room. Although the instructions said the planks were repositionable for up to 15 minutes before the glue set, we found that it set much quicker-within a couple of minutes- & that was before we rolled over the planks. Also, viewing the installation video on Home Depot's website was quite helpful. We rented the 75 lb roller from Home Depot but they didn't have the small hand-held roller to use as we installed each plank, so we used a Pampered Chef pizza roller which worked just as well. I just love the way it looks & the ease of cleaning it - I just run a Swiffer over it & damp mop if necessary. I would purchase this product again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ALMOST TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE As a general contractor I'm in a HD sometime 3x's a day (not for the faint of heart). One day I was walking by this luxury vinyl plank flooring and I was in the middle of a remodel for a commercial shopping center space for a retailer. Long story short the tenant decided to give it a try and after waiting about 7-10 days for the color choice my guys installed about 600 sq ft. on a slab. Went in about 6 hours with almost zero waste . So far the customer tells me that they receive tons of complements and no one has any idea what it is. Most think it's hardwood. Seems to be wearing like a champ. I have plenty of HD horror stories. This isn't one of them. I have another job coming up and I'll be using it again. Big Bang for the buck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great flooring option I bought this after looking at real wood and laminate wood flooring stock, not just at the Home Depot but other local area flooring companies. I agonized whether this would be as nice as real wood flooring. It truly looks just like real wood and is durable like vinyl. I had a professional install it so I can't speak to ease of installation--although he made it look easy--I wouldn't attempt this on my own! I just had it installed last month so I can't speak to the LONG term durability but I have two dogs who are always tracking in dirt and other stuff and are running around etc., and so far so good, it stands up to them... I think this is one of the best faux wood/vinyl products out there; I researched many other competitors out there (Armstrong among them) I ordered many vinyl wood samples from all over the country--but Trafficmaster's was by far the most realistic in color, texture and overall visual appeal than any other vinyl/wood product. They actually put a wood grain in the texture that other competitor's products either don't bother to do or do an inferior job, which lends a more realistic touch/feel to this product. Especially under bright sunlight conditions when you look at this product versus others brands you see the other vinyl products look very fake in texture and don't fool the eye. If you don't care if the product looks all that realistic then other products can suit your needs just as well. The only downside was the actual vinyl plank is rather thin coming in at around .15 mm many others are made thicker. The thicker products tend to have less give/flexibility so for some applications this might not be a good thing to use. They have a vast variety of wood types and colors (pine, oak, bamboo etc.) most all of the product lines they carry are "special order" they only carry oak, cherry and teak in store (maybe this varies depending on region?), which is a bummer because they have tiny 4"x4" samples and you really cannot tell what the entire plank will look like until you order it, and if you make a mistake in color or decide you don't like it the Home Depot states they will charge you a restock fee which can be 25% of the overall price of the order! Yikes, so be SURE before you order so you don't have to spend more money returning it and buying another color! I took every little 4x4 and laid it out to see the variation in color, because like real wood, the tones and wood characteristics will change in the planks! Take a bunch home with you too (they are free in my local stores) and lay them out-- it will save you some surprises later. The prices at Home Depot were very reasonable versus the price of the laminates and real wood materials. I did my research and I kept coming back to this one. It looks great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great floor for busy family, kids, pets, and pool! My husband and I have been looking for a floor that is inexpensive, looks great, and is easy to install, and then will hold up to our family. We have a pool, children, guests, and multiple pets. My husband put this floor down quickly using a straight edge, razor knife, and measuring tape. We installed white vinyl shoe moulding to hide the edges and allow for expansion. This cleans easily and the pets and kids can run through the house dripping from the pool and no harm is done. LOVE IT! Mops and sweeps clean easily, looks wonderful!
