Customer Questions & Answers

Do you nail in the final plank of installation or do you let the quarter round trim keep it in place?

Asked by: newinstaller
I used double sided tape sold for carpet joints. It has held planks in place well.

i won't be ready to install flooring for a while. can i buy now and cold store this product without it going bad ? i am worried the glue strip might

dry out.

It doesn't stick well anyway. It probably can't get any worse. If I didn't already have it, I wouldn't buy it. Guess I'm STUCK!!!!!! which is more that I can say for Allure vinyl flooring.

How would this hold up to pet traffic from 2 large dogs? Also, what about in a small bathroom?

The dogs don't soil in the house, they just get rowdy, and wondered if their toenails would leave marks. Also I have a small bathroom, and wondered how it would work in there? Is it slippery, like linoleum and tile?

I have 1 large dog and the floor shows no signs of traffic.

We want to put the allure floating resilient plank flooring (fake wood) in our basement?

Is this a good idea? Some people said that it might come up and buckle???
Asked by: Anonymous
We installed this product in our basement. We live in the western U.S. (Eastern Washington State) where the climate is relatively dry, so our basement is pretty dry compared to some other areas of the country. The concern here is that if the basement concrete under the flooring is not consistently dry, moisture can be trapped under this flooring and promote the growth of mildew and mold and perhaps human health problems. This is a floating type of flooring, not attached to the subfloor or concrete, so it can move a little instead of buckling with changes in temperature. The planks are attached to each other, not to the floor, so I don't think it would come up, like some cheaper types of self-stick flooring that attaches directly to the floor. So if your basement is consistently dry, I would think you would be OK. If your basement has occasional moisture problems, this may not be the type of flooring for you.

But, it's much more time consuming than advertised after cutting pieces to go around doors, water heaters, bathrooms, closets, etc. I think it's going to be very durable. Only time will tell. I found that even short pieces blend in so well that I wasn't strict about having pieces at least 6" long or an inch or two wide. It saved time not being so precise. We used this flooring two years ago on another apartment we own and it's holding up well. There was a bit of separation on the floor we put down two years ago, which I attribute to our inexperience using the vinyl plank. This second installation was better than our first two years ago and looks perfect. My wife loves the oak flooring with tan walls. I just used click and lock vinyl on another apartment. I'm not sure which I like more. With click and lock, I understand don't have to use a vapor barrier over a concrete floor, which I love. I understand the vapor barrier is to protect the adhesive from breaking down on the grip strips, but isn't necessary for click and lock. But, I think the click and lock take a little more time to put down.

It has huge waves in the floor. The installer has been out saying it's defective and Allure sent someone out who says it's the installers. Nobody wants to make this right and we can't afford to do anything more because the cost of this floor was all we had. DON'T BUY IT. THE WARRANTY? WHAT WARRANTY?

Have had hard wood in the past and my dogs scratch it easily. This flooring holds up much better and it looks just like wood. In fact, people come over and are always surprised it's vinyl.

This flooring is very easy to install, but spend more money and get a better quality product! Our flooring has only been in for 6 months and it already needs to be replaced. It's cracking and separating in high traffic areas, and almost immediately we noticed dimples in the flooring from every piece of furniture that sits on it. We're hoping to contact the manufacturer to have it warrantied, but we don't expect much! Spend the extra money and get a better product!!

It is beautiful and looks like wood. It is probably more durable than the typical wood floor because it is water proof and scratch free. It is thick and heavy although easy to install. You don't need any underlayment as long as the floor is flat. I am looking forward for it to last a long time. It is also easy to maintain and to clean. I did my whole house with vinyl pranks and it feels like a new house.

Absolutely beautiful flooring that flows almost seamlessly from the oak hardwood floors throughout my home. I had this installed in a lower level walkout where I did not want to use real hardwood. My installer is a major reason I am so pleased with this flooring. He had no complaints, and installed approximately 425 sf in one day, just adding the moulding in a couple of hours on the second day. I would use this product anywhere in my home.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy This has to be the easiest flooring to install ever. The amount of scrap varies based on the size of a job from around 15 percent in a tiny corridor to we'll under ten percent for a 250 foot room. I worked from several dye lots and all but one matched fairly closely. Be sure to open several boxes before you start; check dye lot match.I laid every third piece from the oddball box until I worked through it in a back bedroom. While not as good as same colored flooring, the results were OK. No one has complained so far. Using a reciprocating (saws all) or hand saw will leave trimmed door frame bottoms in bad shape. When trimming you will need a manual flush cut pull saw or jack saw, or an electrical occilating plunge saw. Don't skimp. Clear gutter adhesive was useful in doorways where the flooring had to be laid by sliding the gray tab under the floor top. Like old fashion tiles, this product responded well to slow modest heating and cutting around pipes. I like this product.
