Answer:
No it lays right over your floor just make sure you do not have anything like a nail or screw sticking up because you will see that after the floor is down.

Answer:
No, if it is on cement, you need to lay down plastic to keep the moisture from penetrating the planks.

Answer:
No, the only time we recommend using any type of underlayment would be when installing our Allure Grip-Strip product over concrete or cement. In that case you can only use a 6 mill poly

the specs say that it is not waterproof - I don't plan to get it wet, but its a basement, and it could happen after all.

Thank you for your interest in the TrafficMaster Allure Resilient Vinyl Plank Flooring in Sacramento Pine. Allure is water resistant and will withstand holding water for short periods of time if the product is installed properly. allure is not flood proof! Allure is not meant as water proofing material nor a solution for moisture. Moisture intrusion is a totally different situation that can arise with new and old concrete that exhibits very high levels of hydrostatic pressure in combination with very high levels of alkalinity. This combination provides a substance that is highly corrosive. No floor covering including allure can withstand the long term corrosive nature of this chemical. Hydrostatic pressure exceeding 8 lbs using the calcium chloride test method and/or a P.H test indicates alkalinity levels in excess of 9, steps must be taken to separate allure from the source of the corrosive effect of this chemical. Excessive moisture in the subfloor can cause mold and mildew and other moisture related issues including, but not limited to, trapping of the moisture emissions under allure. Under these circumstances the concrete needs to be treated with a floor sealer that seals the concrete under the 8 lbs. or a moisture/ vapor barrier (6 mil poly) is installed. This is necessary to avoid the corrosive effects. Newly poured concrete floors must cure for a minimum of 90 days. It is the responsibility of the home owner and the installer to make sure that any moisture or alkalinity issues are resolved prior to installing allure. Read Less

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 20 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very easy to install looks great Having done the old peel and stick tiles many years ago this is the best way to cover an old floor. free floating lays right over the old vinyl floor no need to remove the glued down floor. I did my 12 x 12 kitchen in one day very easy to cut by scoring the top with a razor knife and snapping the plank. Same with cutting around the cabinets. This is a very easy do it yourself weekend project. The sacramento pine color looks great you would think it is a real wood floor. I order a little extra incase I messed up having no problems now I can do my 1/2 bath with the extra. November 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful floor This floor is easy to install and the Sacramento Pine color is beautiful. It looks much more expensive than it is. The product is a bit cheaper and you can tell when you begin to install it. Some corners will pop up and if the wall is not square some seams can be difficult to hide. These are easy fixes (I used gorilla and super glue, put a box on the corners and it has stayed down). For the price you can not beat this floor. April 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by If I can do it... All in all, Allure has been simple to install and has saved me a lot of money, time and & headache. To do my 5x7' bathroom was a box and a half(one of the pallets was delayed in shipping about a week after the first box, but they made it right when I brought it to their attention), which comes out to about $70 for the whole room. The price, time and tools involved of doing faux wood ceramic tile, as my original plan would've taken me at least twice as long as this. All you do is measure, score with a sharp, thin razor blade, snap the plank and stick to the last plank. It's sooo easy! And I'm a single gal in my first house with no help from another soul! Cutting the rounded edges of the toilet and hodge-podge door edges was the hardest part, but I didn't even have to remove my toilet, as I would've had to with tiling. I seriously recommend it!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good value and terrific looking! I am especially pleased with the trueness of the color and texture of the flooring. It's exactly what I wanted, although I did not expect such great results from an online purchase. I am happily surprised. I think Home Depot describes their products very well. II don't think you can get better value anywhere else. January 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! Used in basement remodel. Scuffs easy which is a con but love the look of the floor and scuffs are easily removed. November 7, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by looks and feels great! easy to install. really loved the color! dark but not too much. great feel as you walk! October 26, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 easy and looks very nice I had a lot of time to do a small...120sqft area...and I spread it out over multiple days. The reason? I didn't buy knee pads! No problems with the product at all. Delivered to my front door quickly w/o damage to flooring. Would recommend. December 27, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good flooring for the price. The floor looks great. It was a little tricky to cut, but in the end we enjoyed how it turned out. October 31, 2012
