Customer Questions & Answers

Could this product be installed on a ceiling?

I have a 12X24 carport attached to my home that I would like to turn into an outside entertainment are. I was hoping to use this product to dress up the ceiling of this area before installing fan's. I live in Louisiana so it is hot and Humid in my area. Thanks

I wouldn't, but hey.. Why not. I would do the flooring on a thin plywood first then install. This flooring is a floating floor and doesn't stick to the floor (just the other panels). In this case, you would be putting adhesive to the panels the using finishing nails in various places.

Can I clean this product with a steam cleaner?

Asked by: Anonymous
I would think so, since it can handle water, but it's such a cleanable surface that a steam cleaner seems unnecessary. A damp mop and floor cleaning solution should be all you'd need.

I had never attempted anything like it, and I was extremely nervous. No issues at all!

I've been a landlord for 30 years and this is the most logical flooring choice for rentals I've seen. I wouldn't use it in my personal home as it just doesn't match the attractiveness of real hard wood. Also, even though it's quite rigid when newly installed, unless the sub floor is perfectly smooth it settles over time and shows every wave, hump or other imperfection, especially when covering a large area. The sub floor should be prepped just like when you're installing sheet vinyl. To cut it, you can score with a sharp cutter and snap like in their installation video but don't underestimate how labor intensive it can be. Realistically, a pair of metal cutters or shears works better with less fatigue and is absolutely necessary when cutting around doorways, etc. The glory of this product is it's usefulness in rentals. It's tough stuff but when the tenant still manages to destroy a section of it you simply replace the area they damaged. It's much easier to use a heat gun and putty knife to get the damaged planks up w/o harming the good neighboring flooring. This always ruins the glue strip so to get the remaining undamaged planks to adhere to the new replacement planks, you need to re-coat the glue strip on the remaining planks with regular contact cement and let dry. Then you just slide the new piece into place and you just saved $100's by not replacing the entire floor!

I wanted something simple, easy maintenance and looked like wood. My husband measured and cut to make a staggered pattern and it looks so natural, like the hard woods on the main level. It turned out great! So great I can't wait for the Adeline Oak I ordered for the hall, den, and bonus room in the basement. I recommend for any one who wants something really nice in a basement but don't want to put down real hardwood because of constant moisture (no matter how good your dehumidifier is) or flood possibility. You won't feel so bad if you have to replace it.

I do not install floor, I am not handy. Yes it took a few wasted planks to get used to the product and yes I unfortunately have a few minor gaps but overall this floor is great. I installed it 2 years ago and it is still looking brand new today (see photos). Cutting the thick planks was the hardest part for me, but after I scoring and snapping over 500 square feet I was a pro. If you are unsure about the installation process, home depot has some great online videos and hey I did it!

This installation went into an investment condo so for the first time I used the entry level flooring. My installer loves this product and 1,400 sq/ft just took 1.25 days once the subfloor was prepared. It looks amazing and I know like my other floors, will be long lasting. No harsh chemicals to clean...just warm water means it's GREEN. Best of all it won't scratch like wood floors and there is no ice cold tile floor to walk on.

Love the color and ease of installation. Looks so great! The weathered look of Pacific Pine hides imperfections. We used 29 boxes, and all boxes blended well together. My only complaint, is that the flooring seems to dent easily. For example, when installing the floor, we had a garbage can in the basement, and at one point dragged it rather than lifted it. If you now look at the floor at a certain angle, in a certain light, you can see a mark. So I suggest lifting anything that could possibly leave a mark. That being said, because Pacific Pine is a weathered/distressed look, these marks are not very noticeable.

We have used Allure multiple times in our home and rental homes and I have installed virtually every type of floor covering during the past 30 years. Originally I was skeptical about Allure but after doing my research a several years back, I went ahead with the first installation. It is by far the easiest floor covering of all kinds to install. Just watch the u-tube videos and most importantly, make sure the sub-floor is smooth. Once you have a good smooth subfloor the rest is pretty easy. By the way, the very 1st Allure floor we installed about 7 years was on a concrete basement floor which almost immediately flooded (failed sump pump) and the floor looks as good today as when we installed it.

The floor looks fantastic, but my back, knees, feet, and hands paid a price at the end of the day. This is very easy to lay down. I used a hand roller, then rented the 100 lb. job the next day to criss-cross the whole room. This went in my music studio, and doesn't really look like fake wood. My only complaint is that they need to package it better. I had several pieces where the corner was bent from poor packaging (not the shipper). Fortunately, I was able to cut them and use them on the ends.
