installing under baseboards

This question is from 6 in. x 36 in. Cherry Resilient Vinyl Plank Flooring (24 sq. ft. / case)

I am installing upstairs on the subfloor that was previously covered by carpet. The planks easily fit under the baseboards. Is it okay to allow the planks to slide under the baseboards if I still leave a 1/4" gap? If I do that, can I avoid installing the quarter round trim?

I can't find transition strips to match the Dove Maple planks. I don't want the underlying strips. I'm looking for the actual T-strips that will let me connect these planks to the carpet in the next room.

I recently installed some of this in my home, and had a few boxes left. I want to get more of it to add to what I have left and put it down in another room.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 3082 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Product Experience Nice product with many different designs. I found it difficult to cut along the length when fitting around corners when narrow strips are needed. Cutting across the length is very easy and there was not much waste. Getting the strips to fit tightly took some practice. I like the look. It is thin, so you don't need to be concerned with cutting down doors. May 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Look I picked this floor because it matches grey walls in my bathrooms. Indeed it looks really nice. Installation was easy and fast, I have done it on my own, even though I have had no previous experience with this type of flooring. It is floating floor, which means it should not be glued to the floor beneath. Can be installed on any flat surface, so it can be your first floor or you can put it over old tiles of any kind. My only complain would be that you can't buy smaller package. Luckily in my case two boxes covered my both bathrooms, but I used up all tiles. If I would need just one more tile, I would have to buy a whole box, which wasn't cheap. February 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Never Buy Again! We bought 35 cases for a large flooring project at a great price during the Black Friday sale. We followed the installation instructions exactly. In spite of following the directions almost half of the tiles are not firmly glued to each other, most loose at the short end. I called the company to complain and they sent me out a box of glue. The files were in the house (air conditioned) almost a month prior to installation. Every seam was hand rolled. A 6 mil vapor barrier was put over our concrete floor which is very clean and level. We rented a 100 pound roller for 2 days and rolled the floor repeatedly only to see the tiles come up shortly thereafter. We began video taping the installation when the first course we put down started to come up to prove to the company we had followed their instructions. I do plan on filing a warranty claim as I do not expect this floor to last very long as dirt works into the exposed seems. January 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Looking Product This is a very nice looking product and fairly easy to install. I cut it with all-purpose shears and didn't need a miter saw. My problem is that I installed it on a second floor sub-floor that was not level and had screws sticking up. This product will mold to anything, but will also show the bumps in the sub-floor. Be careful when installing because if you make a mistake and want to pull the plank back up you'll need to do it right away and carefully. If the adhesive on the two planks begin to set up you'll be tearing the strips right off and then you've got real problems. December 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this stuff for easy, fun installation and the gorgeous look of it. No joke. This flooring is fantastic I just finished my seventh flooring job using Allure planks. I installed the floors all by myself, learning a few "tricks" along the way. There are definitely strategies that make the outcome a bit better, but all in all, it comes out great. I've used Spinelli Red and Hamiltorn Oak (east coast home), Alpine Elm, Golden Maple, Autumn Oak and my new favorite - Dove Maple - in the California apartment units I manage. All prospective tenants are very impressed with the look and feel. I personally am happy not to install laminate in these units. I've heard bad stories about this. I think I've saved quite a bit of money doing it myself, too. No special tools needed other than metal yardstick, box cutter, heavy duty scissors, pencil. I also placed 1/4 inch cork underlayment even though the advice is not to. I had to do it in second floor units, and where cement floor is uneven. also, needed a tube of adhesive for vinyl to help stick in a few areas, if they do pop up. This works well. Very clean look to it. Better than the old carpet (which I pulled out myself, then cleaned the residual dust/dirt). I'm so very proud of my work and love to show the photos to everyone. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for pets and water resistent I have an English Mastiff dog and have had this flooring on the upstairs of my house for about 6 months now. The floor still looks beautiful. No scratches or any separating problems. We have spilled liquids on it and it cleaned up easily with no damages to the floor. We have also slid things like a table and chair across it and it made no scratches. I recommend this product to people that are trying to find a durable flooring options that does not cost as much as real wood. I really love this floor!! December 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EVEN BETTER THAN REAL WOOD! I had previously bought this Trafficmaster flooring and had it installed in a small closet which was converted into a wine bar. Some water had spilled and I was worried that it would have a negative effect on the floor. However, and to my amazement, not one drop of water seeped below the floor! I cleaned it up and to this day, some 6 months now, there is no damage to the floor. Consequently, when I got my back upstair patio enclosed and had a custom-made built in closet done, I opted to use the same flooring except in a cherry color which happened to be on sale. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Repeat Customer When we bought our house five years ago, we had this floor installed in the entry way and kitchen, by a professional installer, at the same time he installed our carpet everywhere else. The day after this floor was laid, the kitchen sink sprung a leak and water was everywhere. We called TrafficMaster and they told us to immediately sop up all the water and put fans in the room to dry the floors quickly and the glue should hold...and five years later not a single plank has needed to be replaced! After living on these floors with two kids, two cats, and a 100lb dog, we realized we made a terrible decision in not laying this floor throughout the main traffic areas including the living room, hallway, and kid's room. It has held up to so much abuse and still looks fantastic. Our goal was to extend the flooring we already had without having to rip it all up and start over again, and in the end we believe it worked! You can't even tell where the old flooring ends and the new flooring begins, the color matched so well! We did this install by ourselves and I would recommend a good, sharp cutting tool for any odd cuts that need to be made. This floor is a first time DIY-er's dream because there are not a lot of complicated steps or multiple products you need to purchase to do this project right. March 9, 2016
