Instructions for installation, under "Tip & Warnings" states a foam underlay may be used for a softer feel. Will this void the warranty?

Answer:
We do not recommend using an underlayment with our product. It could cause the product to lift and would void the warranty

Hello Boni and thank you for your question.
The cement slab on the main level of your house should be smooth, flat, dry, clean, and solid before installing the TrafficMaster Allure Ultra Carrara Tan Resilient Vinyl Tile Flooring. Hello Boni and thank you for your question.
The cement slab on the main level of your house should be smooth, flat, dry, clean, and solid before installing the TrafficMaster Allure Ultra Carrara Tan Resilient Vinyl Tile Flooring. The subfloors should be flat to within a tolerance of 1/8” over a span of 4 feet (otherwise sand down or fill in the unevenness with a floor leveler). Voids or humps in the subfloor will prevent Allure from locking properly.
Since you are installing over a cement subfloor, carefully checked for moisture problems. New concrete floors need to cure for a minimum of 60 days.
Page 4 of the Floating Resilient Tile Flooring Manual states that should not install Allure over carpet or any foam underlayment. The warranty is in force provided the flooring was installed and maintained according to the instructions. The Owners Manual can be found here: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/79/791830e6-8b16-4898-9014-ae5e02bf0f97.pdf.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by They suck. Not as easy as they make it look !!! Very hard to install. Lots of spaces between tiles. Hard to cut. Not happy. May 5, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Incredibly TOUGH to install. It took my installer 3-weeks full time just to do my kitchen. We call it the "Million Dollar Floor" because it was so costly to install. If you do it your self you will lose the will to live. It may cost you your marriage. April 19, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Challenging Install Chose this flooring on recommendation of a Hone Depot Associate to use in a bathroom. The pieces were very easy to cut by scoring and snapping, but connecting the pieces was a challenge. They did not go together easily at all. If anything moved the slightest bit, there were gaps. We had to take sections apart and start over several times.if the pieces hadn't been cut I would have returned it all. However, once it was finally in, the floor looks nice. I would not recommend this product or use it again. February 29, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Product - Tough Install Floor looks great once installed but don't believe anyone who tells you how easy it is to install. The locking system is difficult to get tight. One tip, forget shears or utility knife for cutting around objects like plumbing. Use your sabre saw. Works great, just support both sides of your tiled. June 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! Easy to install except in the closet! Looks great! February 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful tile, we love the look of it. Looks beautiful in our basement, very little prep work to instal. Already has a backing on it. Easy to order on the internet, came very quickly after we ordered it. We love this tile, the look and comfort. January 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful and durable floor This flooring was a bit harder to install because once it is locked to the next piece of tile, it is very difficult to tap it to slide forward or backward to accommodate curves or corners. My professional installers got a bit frustrated with installation but were pleased with the product and the finished look. I love the floor and think the effort was well worth it. It holds up well to grandchildren and their spills as well as our Boxer, Toby. I decided on this product because I live ocean front and needed a waterproof flooring that was tuff yet beautiful. September 17, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rugged, nice-looking floor The Flooring Specialist at Home Depot got my attention when she beat on the floor sample with a closed razor-knife. She tried hard to scratch and gouge it, but there wasn't a mark on the flooring. OK, tell me more... This stuff isn't cheap, but my wife & I were able to install it ourselves, so we saved on the labor. Note: unless you have a square room with few cutouts, this will take some patience, and some talent - and tools. Our installation went from the kitchen into the dinette, down a hallway-like pantry and into the laundry room. Add to that the angular peninsula (25°), and it took some time to make it work. Straight cuts can be made with a sharp razor-knife (have plenty of extra blades) and a metal straight-edge: score and snap. It's tough stuff, so I used a pair of sheet-metal type Vise-Grips to hold short pieces that needed to be snapped off. Cutouts for air vents and around door jams & casings can be made with a jigsaw - again, have extra blades, this stuff eats them up. But these tiles lock together nicely. We alternated them in a brick-like pattern which helps keep the rows straight, and provides a nice look. It also has a nice feel under foot. April 22, 2014
