I'd like to use peel and stick carpet squares to make a rug. Will this damage or discolor the flooring? Also, can I use rug tape so my rugs don't slide? Thank you.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Rugs that have a Polymer, Acrylic, Vinyl or Cotton backing should be used, which can be found at most stores. Rubber-backed mats/rugs are not recommended as they will stain (yellow) the floor.

Answer:
For the past 6 months I've been using swifter wet cloths for light clean ups & a micro fiber cloth wet mop for heavier cleaning. Both work excellent. I've even used the scouring pad side of the wet mop with no adverse affects to the finish but would not recommend using it unless all other methods of clean up fail.

Answer:
GG,
Any cleaner solution from the Swiffer should be sprayed directly onto the cloth itself and not onto the floor, which could allow for puddling of excess water. Also note that steam cleaners are not recommended for this type of flooring either.

Connecting end pieces?

This question is from Allure Ultra 7.5 in. x 47.6 in. Country Walnut Resilient Vinyl Plank Flooring (19.8 sq. ft. / case)
Asked by

I'm working on installing this right now and some parts are going well but others not so much. When I connect the pieces on their long end everything works smoothly. The pieces click together and won't pull apart and it leaves a smooth connection from one board to the next when you run your hand over the two pieces.

On the other hand when I connect the end pieces to each other they just will not connect nicely. It leaves a sharp edge that if you run your hand from board to board you can easily feel. They pull apart easily as well. I've tried multiple angles for laying them together. I've tried multiple boards thinking maybe one was a dud but nothing doing.

Any ideas what on earth I'm doing wrong?

Thank you for your question. The short ends should be tapped down with a soft-faced hammer, available here: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Estwing-12-oz-Double-Face-Soft-Hammer-DFH12/202183882

Allure Ultra 7.5 in. x 47.6 in. Country Walnut Resilient Vinyl Plank Flooring (19.8 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Allure The product is fabulous! My $500 gift card was invalid which led me to having to cough up more money until the card was refunded. I will not go that route again. The product was fine. Staff at Truman store could have been more helpful. I went in several times prior to purchase. Store was not busy but hard to get questions answered. The product pick up department was VERY helpful! I recently installed carpeting, too. I can't say that it was a great experience.

The only thing is sometimes pop up if your house is settling. Just need a rubber mallet to gently pound it back down. Our floor feels dusty, even though it's clean. Can still be easily scratched. I like it because it has double sided vinyl and easy to clean.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth the money I've installed other Allure floor systems with which i have been more than satisfied with. I thought that by up grading to a thicker floor material (not to mention a much higher price) that i would be getting an even better quality floor, not so. This floor did not go together well, after a few pieces i realized from milling there were small cuttings left in the groove that prohibted the the product to firmly set,so this ment clearing every piece. Also the durabilaty if the product is very poor, this floor showed signs of scratching within the first hour of use. I would not reccomend this this line allure to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vinyl Plank Flooring Actually used this for a countertop in a Study area! Very easy to cut & install. Look for directions online as there were none in the box when shipped. Should be great as flooring.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from too expensive to look this cheap We decided to finish our basement one project at a time, after 6 months we were fianlly ready to pick the floor. My husband and I researched for weeks before choosing this floor. It's water resistant and it needed no subfloor, so we would not loose any inches as we didn't want the basement to feel closed in. The floor took a long time to install, even after we got the hang of it and the finished product is okay, because it's just the basement floor, but I would not put this ANYWHERE else in my home. It looks so cheap, but at over 3 bucks a sq foot, IT'S NOT THAT CHEAP! The "embossing" adds a high shine to it, that looks really fake. Wishing that I had choosen the Kentucky Oak, I think the finish was a little more real looking. LIVE AND LEARN...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good I like this product-feels very sturdy. It DID take about 900 square feet before I got used to the click plank system. I do have a few seams(where the grey shows through) Not sure if it's because the room isn't square-or I didn't get the plank locked in. You can feel the plank click in. The installation was harder than the grip strip. Overall, I like the way it looks. I did about 1400 square feet in a walk out basement. It matches well with the hardwood floor upstairs, and the oak steps leading down into the basement. I found that cutting it with a jigsaw worked out well-sometimes it was hard to snap the cuts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product; buy online I LOVE this flooring. We purchased this for our bathroom and I couldn't be more pleased with its durability and quality. The planks have grooves that make them look like real wood without the maintenance issues. We also have the Allure Resilient Dark Walnut Vinyl strip floor in our kitchen and this is a good color match with a far more realistic wood-like finish and feel. The only problem we had was trying to see a sample in the store. The online chat specialist had more information and was much more helpful in making the purchase decision than the in-store flooring department. Buy it online and save yourself the gas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very simple and looks great Wanted a wood look floor in a bathroom that we were remodeling so we thought we would give this a try. Product was easy to score and break for the straight cuts needed and was easy to shave to fit around curves. Clicked together perfect. No vinyl odor at all. Plan to use it for the kitchen now since it looks so good and was so simple.
