Customer Questions & Answers

How easy is this floor to clean? Are dark floors harder to keep clean? I love the look but have 3 kids and a dog, need durable and easy to clean.

Asked by: KW30
We installed the dark Espresso Oak and have 2 dogs. We. see. every. pawprint. In hindsight, I'd have gone with a lighter color (though I love the look of the dark wood). It is easy to clean though. Also - put those felt things on the bottom of ALL your furniture legs (even a pretty light chair). It is not scratch resistant, as we have learned the hard way.

Can this be installed over ceramic tile?

I have a floor that i hate and it is ceramic tile. I am trying not to have to do a demo job on the tile, so i was wondering if i could but this floor right over the tile.

I installed this product over an old tile floor and didn't skim coat it. It's been 5 years and you still can't tell there was tile with grout lines underneath.

Can this product be uninstalled and repostioned for a more staggered look?

Asked by: Anonymous
I wouldn't recommend doing that. Please check with the manufacturer, as it could make the flooring unstable. The little grooves on the sides also break fairly easily.

Allure Ultra 7.5 in. x 47.6 in. Kentucky Oak Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring (19.8 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 208.

We got it installed by qualified contractor and at first the floor was great. But over the course of a few weeks the floor starts to separate. My contractor is returning but tells me that most of the floor will need to be pulled up and relayed. He also stated that the floor will probably do the same thing after relaying it. We did our entire first floor with this flooring. My contractor reports that this is a problem with the Traffic Master Allure flooring. From online postings, the manufacture is blaming everyone and everything but not taking any responsibility for the problem. So much for the life time residential guaranty.

Yes, it's easy to measure, score, and break. It does click together, but it requires either a special tool (which you can purchase from HD) or a lot of attention to ensure that all the grooves are perfectly aligned. And even with the tool, getting it aligned and in the groove when you get up next to a wall is very difficult. My big complaint is that it scratches easily. Not nearly as tough as wood, and when it does scratch there doesn't seem to be anything you can do to repair it. I purchased the Allure vs. the much cheaper options because I thought it would be tougher, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The locking system from today's product is different from what was available 8 months ago. It is no longer compatible if you intend to use it to extend the flooring into another room or use it to repair damage to existing Allure Ultra floors. The new locking system is easier to use than the previous one. The old system was horrible. I have installed many different flooring materials and this was the most exhausting and frustrating. You can try your luck with the new stuff, but if it was manufactured prior to 2017 it might not go so well.

I'm more or less happy with this product though I take issue with the feature of scratch resistance. We have already scratched it a few times with minor shifting of the position of a chair and couch. As my husband said, at least with hardwood, you can refinish. Because of how the planks all interlock, it would seem quite difficult to replace a single scratched plank. It was also much harder to install than the instructional video and implied. Easy enough to connect the long sides, but we had a number of planks that seemed impossible to connect on the short side, some are even a little bent, now that they're installed. They are under an area rug, so it isn't visible, but we found it much, much more trickier to install than we had expected.

I am a 130 lb fit woman. I wanted the Ultra for my own home. It weighed a tom and I couldn't get it to click. After killing my back and using up 2 boxes, I took it back & got regular Allure. I am thrilled with how the floor looks. I should have stuck with Allure basic.

I still haven't got it so it doesn't come apart after two try's. I'm going to take it all up a start over again for the third time if it doesn't work I'll just fill in the gaps. NOT the easiest floor to install as they claim.

Connecting the long sides was easy, but we often struggled to get the short sides to line up and connect properly.as a result, we have a few that are a little bent from the effort of trying to get them in.
