When I told Home Depot about it, they were quick to point out my floor must not be level. I did patch jobs to even out the floor, but if your basement floor is sloped to a central drain, don't even bother because you will be flushing your money down the toilet. I've concluded the $1700+ I spent on Allure Ultra has been the worst money I have ever spent. If people tell you otherwise, be very cautious... you are rolling the dice on whether or not it works, so unless you're OK with potentially losing the money you've spent, don't do it. This product can be applied directlyt to a cement floor BUT you need to provide a vapor barrier and clean the floor as best you can to keep the floor level. Remember, the floor is only as good as the base upon which it is installed.

Answer:
If you are installing over a high moisture prone area like in a basement I would recommend doing a moisture test and using a 6 mill poly. If the moisture test reading is above 6% use a moisture proofer first. Do you best to remove any lumps or uneven areas as you will feel that through the floor and it could cause the flooring to lift.

I put my allure floor in yesterday in my bathroom, and I just laid down concrete board underneath. I had to make sure that there wasn't dry mud clumps, but other than that, as long as the floor is smooth and level, the rubber matting will take place as the under layment. Once you get to about the third row, the floor really doesn't move anymore.

I don't believe they will warranty the product with a cushion under it. I like mine on the cement slab without a cushion. It is much softer than walking on Cement by far and not hard like tile either.

Answer:
I would advise against using a cushioning material under this product since it relies on a glue-less joint system to hold it in place. Any flexing of the joints could cause them to separate, making it extremely difficult to realign them enough to snap together properly. Since the product is vinyl, it already is very comfortable to walk on.

Cushions are not recommended for this product. The flexing of daily use would cause undue stress, leading to separation of the joints. Install directly on a properly cured, smooth, and flat slab.

Answer:
I have cut wool rugs on my floors and I put the pads you buy for hardwood floors. They are some type of rubber in an open weave. I have two 50 pound dogs (picture attached) that run in and out on them all the time. Some of the smaller rugs will shift a little, especially when they are on them and launch off running. The larger rugs stay in place.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Allure Sawcut Dakota Flooring High Quality easy to install flooring. They did change how the flooring locked together which really screwed me up. Fortunately, they had the old locking style in stock. August 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great flooring Wonderful flooring. A little difficult to install but worth it. August 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great, but a pain to install Took on our basement for my winter project (aprox 400 sqft). Researched flooring options and was leaning towards carpet, but after finding out about a waterproof flooring option, I was convinced to go this route. I read nearly all 1000 reviews, usually dismissing negative ones, because I assumed if something is difficult or goes wrong, it's the installer.... The flooring looks awesome, but the install was less than pleasant. I've done my share of floors (hardwood and tile), but this was by far the trickiest flooring to get in place. I had a 3/4" gap between the new drywall and the concrete, so there was a lot of shifting happening when tapping the planks tight. The tongue and grove system has nearly zero margin of error. It's either in or not, so that took some practice. Had no problem scoring/snapping the pieces. I only scored over each cut twice. If a short amount needed to be cut off, after scoring, I stepped on that end of the plank to give me leverage while bending it, snapping easily. I did use my table and miter saw for some of the cuts to get around certain corners. Here are a few pointers I learned from some online blogs, reviews, and/or from my learning curve: -THIS IS HUGE: fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol to lubricate the joints. Burned my scrapped knuckles like heck, but stinging reduced the swearing & fighting with the planks not fitting tightly together. Made sliding the planks side to side a lot easier. -make sure your spacers are not going to shift. Once you have a few rows in place, you can weigh down the rows with unopened boxes. -buy the tapping block, or use a couple edge scraps as a tapping block (one for long edge & one for the end. -tap the planks together often to ensure the seams are staying tight and a smooth edge between planks within the same row. -use a pry-bar to get the last piece in each row in place. Of course use a piece of scrap to use between the wall and the pry-bar so you don't dent the wall. -end join planks together for full rows if possible. Butt up to the newest row, then work your way down the row to angle in and snap into place. This was much easier for shorter rows (about 12'), and saves you the headache of tapping the ends of the planks or using the pry-bar (especially near the glass face of the fireplace). If it weren't going to be installed in the basement, I don't think I would ever use this product again for a larger space. Looks great, but not the smoothest DYI project I've dealt with. The packaging claims to be the easiest floor ever, which is total BS....Good luck, hope my tips help. March 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing look and feel! I had Jim Berg and his crew install this all over my River Cabin home in Webster Wi and I can tell you it is gorgeous! I picked this color and texture to recreate a refined distressed barn wood feel! The color is exceptional and picked up both the grey and gold tones I needed to bring all of my real wood together! I love the feel of this underfoot! These floors are mildew and water proof and so you can install them anywhere! So easy to clean and does not show scratching! I am very picky when it comes to interior design and I am extremely happy with this product! My installer of course did an exceptional job and it made the floors warmer to touch and sound proof! I highly recommend this product and the price is good too! June 15, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not as easy as they claim The look & feel of this product is amazing!! Love it! I will say, though, that it DOES NOT click in properly very easily. I YouTube it & saw that other people had the same problem. You have to take a small scrap piece & use it to tap it in to get to seat & lay down properly. Not really a big deal but it does slow you down considerably & made me very paranoid as to whether it was sealed up properly. Sometimes a you click in your piece the one before it gets loose & it can get pretty tedious looking for issues. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HAPPY IN PALM SPRINGS... LOVE THIS FLOORING, IT IS JUST BEAUTIFUL, PERFECT FOR OUR DESERT HOME. JUST BE AWARE HOME DEPOT WAS TRYING TO CHARGE MORE FOR THIS FLOOR UNTIL I CALLED THEM OUT, THE ONLINE CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER WAS DOWN RIGHT RUDE, I HAD TO CALL CORPORATE TO GET A RESPONSE, AND THE PRICING UPDATED. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent flooring Have an old home that is definitely not plumb , and in which the previous owners put pink marble tile. Instead of paying an insane amount to remove the tile in the 1200 sq foot area of living and kitchen space (we also took down 2 walls to make it open concept), we decided we wanted to go over the top of it with a new floor. Our catch is that we also needed something very thin so the doors would still open without needing to adjust them, and needs to wear well with our 4 dogs. We are do it yourselfers (2 women in 40-50 age area), and have laid laminate flooring in the past, and this product was a dream... you just have to make sure your starting line is done well and plumb (as with any flooring), and take your time to make sure each piece clicks in without gaps, and it will look great. We had many obstacles and tricky cuts, but we used a miter saw and a jig saw, and it was laid quickly and easily. Took about 2 good days to do it all, but the results are awesome, and no one can tell it isn't wood unless we tell them or they really get down to touch/inspect it. Installed it over 1 year ago and no issues at all- difficult to scratch ( but not impossible)- normal wear but humans and dogs have no issues with scratching. Tried to move heavy item by pushing it and didn't realize there was a rock under a leg and did get some scratches- used a sharpie and cant see unless really try now. April 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice floor, easy to clean Wife and I like the click lock, vinyl plank, Allure Saw Cut Dakota flooring we purchased form Home Depot. We were shopping for flooring 6 months ago, saw a sample of Allure Saw Cut Dakota and ordered 33 boxes. The price was OK and free shipping made it better. We installed 600 plus square feet in living area, kitchen, hall and bath room. After 6 months still looks great, shows no wear, spilt liquid no problem. Wife says cleaning is a snap. Just vacuum with an electric broom and damp mop as needed. We purchased additional 200 square feet to go in bedroom and are installing it now.. January 15, 2014
