Answer:
No. In face, I was told NOT to put anything between the cement and the flooring. If cement is severely cracked, the cracks need to be smoothed down though.

Answer:
No. Allure Ultra requires no vapor barrier and is 100% waterproof. It cannot be immersed indefinitely, but the hygroscopic properties of concrete will not harm it. You only have to make sure your concrete meets crack/gap type limitations.
You can find all this info in the Allure owners manual [available on the HD website] if you wish.

Answer:
Hi there Bob,
This type of flooring does not require any type of underlayment underneath it, but it can be used in conjunction with a vapor barrier for instances like you're mentioning. However nothing beyond a 6-mil vapor barrier is approved for being used underneath there, so that's all you'd be needing to add to the floor.

How does wood pattern look in person? Is it more realistic than photos?

This question is from Allure Ultra 7.5 in. x 47.6 in. Vintage Oak Natural Resilient Vinyl Plank Flooring (19.8 sq. ft. / case)

I love the color, but I'm not wild about the way the pictures show the pattern once installed. It looks too regimented and "fake-y". I'm figuring too that there is no way to help vary the look because the planks are one directional. (not able to be changed up for visual variety). Just curious if anyone who has it installed feels it looks more realistic and natural in person than in the photos shown. Thanks.

Wood pattern looks good and appears realistic. The big task, however, is getting planks to click together so that seams do not show.

Yes, Lots of compliments on the looks and feel of real wood. Plan on using the product down in Florida where the humidity is high and care is minimal.

My main concern was flooring that could stand up to puddles from my four little rescue pups and all the frequent clean-ups -- yet look good enough for formal rooms like my front entry piano room, dining room as well as my bedroom. I recommend prioritizing your main needs and lifestyle. At this stage in my life, my dogs are more important to me than real wood. If you use real wood transition/reducer strips stained to match and throw in some throw rugs, I think that also helps to add to the illusion of real wood.
Here are some photos of my installation that might help you decide. The photos are a pretty accurate depiction of what it looks like in person.

We put this in a relative's house so my memory of it is limited. It was a bit harder to install than we expected but I thought it looked very nice. Good quality and very good for damp areas like a bathroom.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Vintage oak natural vynil plank flooring We had it done by a contractor. It takes 2 persons to install so the planks get tight and connected to each other. Itlooks great in our basement. Not too light, not too dark - warm. We had carpet and when they pull it out they found old linoleum underneath with many tiles missing so they had to be removed so to make the floor even for the vynil instalation because vynil planks do not require padding . Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks fantastic in the home! We didn't do the installation ourselves, but had Home Depot's contractor do it, so I have no idea about the difficulty in installation. Be that as it may, we are totally pleased with the appearance of this vinyl plank. It looks fantastic, and we couldn't be more pleased. March 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Flooring This oak vinyl plank flooring looks like wood but is water resistant. We are very pleased with the new look of our kitchen floor. March 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great, easy to install We put this product in our basement. Even though our basement is modern looking, we have an older house and liked the look of the wide boards, the golden color and the burl texture. It was very easy to install, don't pay someone else to do it, it's not worth it. Just score and break the planks. I had to score several times, my husband just once. We used a table saw for the long rips. Re-use your end plank at the start of the next row to reduce waste. This product was a bit more expensive than other brands, but when we brought samples home and compared, we liked it best - wider boards, thicker weight and nicer looking woodgrain. My only issue was that we had to wait almost two weeks for it to be delivered. Came on a truck and we had to store it in our garage and carry the boxes in - a pain, but still worth it. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very easy to install with great results! This floor gives beautiful, durable results and is very easy to install. I installed it in my main bathroom a little more than a year ago. I recently installed it in my basement bathroom over bare concrete and the transformation is just fabulous. This is very resilient flooring. My dog slides over it, but it never scratches. The locking system is great! Why mess with glue? The only thing I would caution about is that the underlying floor surface should be even. Unevenness will put stress on the locking edges and the result will not be perfect. This is not a product issue, it is a substrate issue. Although it is rather easy to cut out the planks for most contours, I found that cutting pieces under a few inches is challenging. If you can, plan your laytout to avoid having to do this. January 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Color My only complaint with these planks would be that some of the indentions in the texture are a little glossy which makes it look a bit like there is water drops on it. Other than that, the quality and color are great. September 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Flooring Solutions for Folks with Dogs This 100% waterproof vinyl flooring looks great in the three rooms where I had it installed to replace carpet my four little rescue dogs had ruined. I haven't had it long enough to tell how it will hold up, but the best thing about it is it's easy to clean. Love the medium-shade color too since it's not so dark as to show dust or my dogs' shedding white hair. Real wood or laminate would never hold up to my little rescues' "accidents". I had it professionally installed and installers said it takes a bit of wiggling to get the planks to click together properly. Had white vinyl 3/4 round strips installed between flooring and baseboard, giving the illusion that it's an extended baseboard. (Better than ripping out old baseboard and re-installing it or replacing it with new baseboard, plus the white vinyl trim is waterproof too.) Installers still need to install "reducer" trim (which is not offered by this Allure manufacturer) between existing hall tile and new Allure Ultra. Even though the manufacturer does not offer trim, I do not see this as a negative since I believe it looks better to use the white vinyl 3/4" round trim near baseboard and real oak reducer trim stained to match the color of the vinyl planks. Real oak reducer trim enhances the illusion that the flooring is wood. With a few throw rugs, this flooring looks lovely and modern with its clean lines yet holds up to the frequent clean ups necessary with four little rescue dogs. I love this flooring so much I'm planning to have it installed in my rental property so that I never have to replace carpet again! May 1, 2013
