Before purchasing, I used my car and house keys to try to scratch the display pieces (sorry Home Depot), but it didn't scratch. I used quite a bit of pressure, too. It seems pretty tough, so I bought it.

Maybe, but not very easily. I think your cat would have to dig in pretty hard to leave marks. We have a cat and have had no trouble at all. Our experience has been more of the heavier furniture leaving scratches.

Just like any flooring, if a cat is intent on scratching the floor then it will scratch. Just normal playing and walking shouldn't result in scratching. There is a product that will hide small scratches that I heard about. I think the manufacturer sells it direct but I haven't bought any. So far my boxer running on the floor hasn't made a mark.

A friend layed this product in his motorhome and glued it down. Allure doesn't recommend that, but it seems to work fine. Might be a good idea if used in a laundry room too. Read Less

A washing machine won't cause the flooring to come apart as long as it's installed properly. It also won't cause any damage as long as the feet of the machine are in good shape. Make sure the feet rubber bottoms are in good shape.

First I left a plank out in the rain, to be sure it was not going to warp or soak up the water. After a day or two in the rain, I wiped it off and it was completely dry. The planks went down in a snap. Very easy to make the cuts needed. Glad I went with the wider planks, a lot less work than the 4inch. Floor looks great, and the dogs don't have a hard time on it . Make sure your floor is level, not perfect but close, and clean and you will have no problems. I had no experience prior to this with flooring. I did find that it's best to send your wife somewhere while you do it, it will go a lot quicker. Jim&Lana

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the effort I would give it a 5 if it were as easy to install as I was lead to believe. I installed a vinyl plank about 5 years ago. It was a little over a 1/16 of an inch thick with thin adhesive tabs. The tabs were a pain, but the planks were thin and easy to score and crack. Overall, it was easy to install. A year and a half ago, I installed Allure in a kitchen at a townhouse I was renovating. This flooring also had adhesive tabs that were as thick as first floor I installed. The planks were twice the thickness as the first plank floor I installed. Still able to score and crack but it required a deeper score. The thicker tabs made installation easier. I was happy with the results. This time around, I'm working with interlocking plank. Once you get the hang of it, it goes together fairly well. That is until you get into tight spots where you need to slip under door jambs. I assumed I would be able to tap the edges to get the pieces to click in place. NOOOOOO. T get it to work, I had to get rid of the dimple ridges on the locking flanges. That eliminated the problem. Once dimple ridges were gone I could tap them together. This plank is at least an 1/8" thick. I assumed I would have to cut it with a flooring saw. As it turned out, I could still score and crack a nice hard edge. and use a scroll saw for the odd cuts. I'm not done with the full installation - Bath, 2 small closets, 1 large walk-in closet and the master bedroom. .I have the bath and the smallest closet finished (small closets are the hardest - no room to maneuver). The flooring is absolutely beautiful. The extra work involved with the locking plank is worth the trouble. It's not supposed to allow water to seep through to the subfloor and it will not allow plank shrinkage that expands the seams with the adhesive tab plank. Don't get me wrong. There is not much shrinkage. I just don't want to see it. I would recommend the product. Keep in mind I did the worst case senerio first. Once you get the hang of getting the pieces to lock, installation will go smoothly. Doing a larger square room will be a piece of cake. Will I use this style product again? You bet. I have two more bedrooms, two baths, and a large kitchen/hall to do. I am working to eliminate 90% of our carpeting. It looks great and wares way better then hardwood flooring. Don't even think about laminate. The surface is thin and brittle. Easily chipped and can't be fixed. The compressed cardboard core sucks up moisture and expands causing bumps at the joints that will never go away.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from quite please... mostly. My wife and I purchased this as replacement flooring in our kitchen/dining area. Two small kids, a dog, and a cat; suffice to say we needed something durable and easy to clean. We also needed something relatively inexpensive knowing that this would be the last floor we were laying down and ultimately will be remodeling the kitchen and would put different flooring down. Installation wasn't difficult. Take your time, read the instructions a couple of times, get a good box knife and extra blades. Take your time. A good pair of gloves certainly helped. Watch the gasket edges closely, if you don't you will have an unpleasant surprise of a white spot on occasion. Thankfully I noticed this early and was able to adjust as I went. Also, pay attention to your seams as you go. Before you go too far down the run, or add the next course, look at your seams. I didn't do this and now I have a very small gap in the middle of the floor I can't close up. The flooring locked in place, but shifted just enough during the installation process to create the gap. (See take your time comment ;-) ) If you need small pieces or have to snap off narrow bits, things can get a bit difficult. Take you time and score a couple of times, deeply, so it breaks off cleanly. Generally speaking, this stuff is easy to cut to size. My only gripe is the flooring is much more slippery than the vinyl flooring I had before, even with the texture. I was hoping with the wood grained texture it wouldn't be this way, but the surface friction is low and sliding is easy. At the end of the end of the day this flooring is a good value. It was easy to install, it looks great, and took minimal prep work to get going. I just wish it wasn't as slippery on top.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great installation This was an easy product to install with a few caveats. First, take seriously that you must get the first two or three rows installed right - square and meticulously fitted together. If you see any gray it means it's off a little and it will throw off subsequent rows exponentially. I found I had to go back a couple times and refit to make things fit together properly. Be incredibly picky about this! In fact just be very meticulous about putting the pieces together in general. Also, make sure your floor is very level and clean. If the floor is not level you will have trouble keeping the panels clicked together. Finally, be careful about the tiny white strip of plastic at one end of the plank. It is easily damaged and if so, it makes it very hard to fit the pieces together. This was probably the single most annoying part of the install. Think they need a bit of redesign there. The floor looks very nice - warm and pleasant looking. I cannot speak to durability yet since I just installed but I am pleased so far.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from don't buy I installed this floor almost 3 years ago and now it looks bad. I love the look and feel of the floor but was very hard to install and started to pull apart at the seams not even two moths later, both at the ends and sides. I don't know how many times I have pounded it back together for it to pull apart again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product! The flooring was as easy as they said it was to install. Looks amazing. Anyone complaining about it coming apart had to install it incorrectly. First, listen for the faint click of the tab locking in with the next piece. Second, run your finger nail along the joint/seam between the two pieces. If there is any drag, then there is space and the pieces are not installed correctly. Fix each joint before moving on or you will be removing and reinstalling just to fix a seam somewhere in the flooring. Loved the first room we did so much that we just bought enough for the majority of our first floor. Plus, we found it on sale which helped make our decision to purchase so much of it.
