Customer Questions & Answers

would this carpet be rough on crawling babies knees?

Asked by: Tucker
imagine your precious child rubbung their baby soft skin on a room carpeted with the scrubby side of a sponge - only not as soft...

Despite this having adhesive, can I also use carpet glue with it?

I have an outdoor deck with a vinyl lining that has old carpet glue stuck to it. I can't remove the glue without also removing the expensive (and still intact) vinyl. I would like to stick these tiles over it, but I fear they will not adhere well to the old glue. Can I stick a carpet adhesive under these as well to help them adhere to the rougher surface?
Asked by: Lori
imagine gluing down a scrubby pad or the scrubber side of a sponge to your floor - that's what you would get... minus the sponge.

Customer Reviews

Dilour - Color Blue Texture 18 in. x 18 in. Carpet Tile (12 Tiles/Case) is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good enough I purchased a couple boxes just to test on my floor. I currently have 3 dogs and 4 cats. Tore up carpeting and padding, was going to just paint the subfloor but is too cold! So I am putting this down on the subfloor, then putting area rugs in the living area to cover it up. Easier for the dogs to get up and down on this than the subfloor. Didn't need anything pretty, will tear up eventually and will put back down "real" carpet and pad again. Easy enough for me to install on my own. First box, i do have a couple gaps, started at wall, not center. Would't use this on something that was't going to have something else over it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Carpet When I first received these carpet tiles I was a little disappointed. They appeared very thin and flimsy. I installed them in our playroom over unfinished hardwood two weeks ago and have been happy with them since. They were very easy to install. I was able to cut them to size with regular scissors and the adhesive has held them in place so far. Once installed they are actually very soft. Easy to install, easy to clean, soft and so far durable. Very happy with these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to do, easy to keep! All three kids were able to pitch in and help, with only minimal training. Whole playroom / hallway laid in a day. Trimming to fit around corners and edges was as easy as cutting out cardboard. One note - there can be pretty obvious color variation from box to box, so next time open all the boxes and shuffle the tiles to get an even dispersion rather than have 1-1/2 rows dark, 2 rows light, 3/4 row dark, 1 row light, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good purchase--TIPS BEFORE INSTALLING I love these. Here is some things to think about before installation: 1) Do you want a mosaic effect? Do you want the floor one color? Do you mind seeing the striped rows? Installation directions tells one to turn the pieces so that the nap also turns. This causes one to be able to see each square, and an effect of light and dark squares. If you want this look, it makes the pieces fit together better, with the nap of one carpet covering the hard side of another (one cut edge is a little "harder" than the others, and a black strip shows-you will see this when you look at a piece) I did NOT want that pattern on my floor, so I lined them up all going the same direction (there is an arrow sticker on each piece) Because of this, you can see each ROW of tiles, because the "hard" side matches up with another "hard" side of the square above it. But I wanted color consistency, and it's my basement, so I'm ok with that. I also recommend that one starts from the middle of the floor and work in a square pattern out to the edges, as the directions state, using a chalk line to keep your rows straight. I did not do this, because I have a basement full of stuff, and had to move furniture and work around a pool table (very heavy!) and it was just easier to start in one corner and work out. This worked out fine, but no matter how hard I tried, by the time I got to the end of the room, some rows were off by about 1/4 inch. In the big picture, I am fine with that, and it's really not that noticeable, but for some applications, one would want "perfect". This would not happen as much by starting in the middle and working out.. I did notice that heavy furniture legs will compress the carpet, so I recommend putting a small square of carpet under the corners of cabinets, tables, etc. I have heavy shelves, computer cabinet, pool table and hockey table, so I just put a small, discarded, piece under the disk feet or corners of each. We are moving in a couple of years, so I didnt want to leave the compression for the next family--but if you are staying put, you may not worry about doing this. Just know that if you move a piece later, you may have permanent compression. The glue is just fine. I noticed that it stuck really well once it "cured" for a few hours. They are easy to cut with regular scissors. The nap is very short on this particular kind, but surprisingly soft, and the cold does not come through. I may not use this particular nap for a different application, but for a rec room or bedroom, it is perfect. I ordered 25 boxes and the color was consistent throughout.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is why it's not available in stores 12 tiles weigh about 1 lb...should tell you a lot. It's sheer felt with a slight bit of adhesive. If i saw them in store I would never have purchased them. A sheer waste of time. GARBAGE bags would have done a better job.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worthy of one star I wanted these to cover the floor in my closet. However these are so cheaply made I wouldnt use them anywhere. Super light weight (about 5 lbs for the case) with barely any adhesive on the back (I cant image them would stay adhered with traffic). Carpet fibers are thin. I cant say one good thing about them. Use commercial carpet tiles that have great adhevsive and good looks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install and looks good This product was very easy to work with. It looks good and so far seems to be a durable product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install over old vinyl tile. The tile in our laundry room was decades old. So, there was an advantage to the carpet tile being thin. That made it flexible enough to cover over an uneven floor that had some cracks in the tiles. It was also easy to cut with regular scissors. The laundry room looks so much cleaner and brighter and the tiles are staying "stuck." I just wish I would have done this sooner.
