Customer Questions & Answers

I have a 13 by 22 living room and I was wondering how many cases I need

Asked by: Dj
13 X 22= 286 plus add 10% for mistakes drop off. 286 + 28 = 314 (314 / 24.5 feet per box = 12.81 say 13 boxes. Open last boxes only as needed as what is unopened can always be returned to the store. . Suggest you buy laminate pull bar tool(11 dollars) / borrow rubber hammer as it saves time and money. Floor goes so much easier with proper tools. Make sure you leave the gap as suggested on the box as floor will expand and constrict with temperture changes. Good Luck.

Can this be installed if the floor is not flat?

There is a place on my floor that isn't flat because the house has settled. I am wondering if the laminate would bend sufficiently to follow the subfloor irregularity.
Asked by: handyman
It isn't suggested. I would use a floor leveling product prior then put down underlayment then the flooring. If you do not fix the settled area it will be reflected in the finished floor.

Glenwood Oak 7 mm Thick x 7-3/4 in. Wide x 50-5/8 in. Length Laminate Flooring (24.52 sq. ft. / case) is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 75.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1 1/2 years and still looks good. I had this floor installed on thanksgiving 2014 and its already 2016 and 1 1/2 years later the floor still looks as good as the day it was put in. There is one spot where i used to have my recycling bin at that has warped but that was my fault because it was an old trash can and i got lazy to empty it into the larger recycling bin out in the back yard and some soda leaked onto the floor but thank goodness that spot is in the corner and not noticable unless you really get on your knees and look for it, but now the dishwasher is in that spot. I also have this in both my bathrooms and one even flooded due to a child trying to flush too much toilet paper and I quickly cleaned it up and the floor did not buckle at all. This is quality flooring and I even got it on sale for $0.59 a sq ft.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great looking floor my husband and I decided to install this in our house, he is visually impaired and only has about 60% of sight in his left eye and is blind in his right eye it and to top it all off we both have back problems , the flooring was easy to install , we were concerned with how it would stand up to getting wet , so we did an experiment . we put 2 scrap pieces in a bucket of water and left one for 12 hours , the other for 24 hours , after 12 hours there was no measurable difference , after 24 hours there was 1/32 of an inch difference we have uploaded photos to show what we did . the piece marked 0 had never touched water

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple install of nice looking laminate Just installed this laminate in our kitchen. First time floor install for us, and it couldn't have been simpler! A few tips: We found that there are five (5) different patterns of "boards". Each "board" has the appearance of three planks of wood. The first thing we did was open the boxes and separate them into 5 different piles according to pattern. As we installed them, we put a piece of painters tape on each board with the corresponding pattern number. That way, as we were installing, we could ensure a good mix of patterns. It also helped us visually see which patterns looked nice together and lined up the best. Be The only tools you need are a circular saw to cut the end pieces and a rubber mallet to tap the planks into place.

Did not go together very well, seams would not stay together, and the finish looked like plastic. I returned the unused portion and ordered Pergo. Don't waste your time or money on this product.

I helped a friend install a TrafficMaster 7mm laminate floor in his livingroom that was a different finish, a pecan something-or-other and it was exactly as ordered. So, I went and got 250 sq ft of the "Glentown Oak" thinking it would be good for my kitchen. The main issue is that the ends are not engineered to snap together as the type my friend got. Oh no, this must be driven together to close the gap. In a open run, this was problematic as I had to have a 'deadman' standing on the pieces already down to make sure they went together. Once I had the overhag of the cabinetry to deal with, things became much more complicated. Bottom line, DO NOT Buy this product. The price had been lowered to .63 sq ft, and now I know why. Unless you have a lot of experience in wood fabrication (and I do) find something else. Beyond that, the finish is fragile as is the locking seams. Eventually I will replace this floor when I do a new kitchen in 3-5 years and I was not about to haul everything back to The Home Depot. It seems this is no longer sold, but you should definitely make sure any TrafficMaster product works as it is supposed to before buying.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the price!! Installed this product in my kitchen almost two years ago and it still looks great! Installation was relatively easy, but there were several broken corners in the boxes. I just put the broken or chipped planks together to create a full box and returned them to Home Depot for a refund (piece of cake). In lieu of that.... I'd order an extra box or two right away. Be sure to glue the planks wherever water may come into contact with ANY laminate flooring (eg.. sink, dishwasher, ect..)!! Haven't had any scratching issues with the pets or table chairs. Will purchase more to continue through my foyer.
