Customer Reviews

Nolan Oak 7 mm Thick x 7.64 in. Wide x 47.95 in. Length Laminate Flooring (25.43 sq. ft. / case) is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nolan Oak looks nice and works well if done right. The last few reviews I had to chuckle when I read them. I think people are trying to put this floor together like typical flooring and that just does not work. For the price this stuff does quite well and is very nice. It matched the rest of the wood in my house and the price was right at the time. I think people are skipping the first step and If you read the instructions, “step 1, checking to make sure your planks are not chipped, cracked or bent,” this product goes together very easy after preparations. I did alter the directions a bit because I found it easier to put together then using wedges to keep the planks at an angle. I’ll explain this and hope it helps others. 1. Start the first row of planks with the tong facing you, like the directions show. 2. Once you have your very first row of planks down and locked together make a second row on top of the one you just made but staggered so joints are at least 8in from the joint of the first row. 3. Once you have the second row all locked together slide the entire second row off the first row from the middle, tell it slips onto the tong of the first row. 4. Start on one end and lift the edge of the planks so they are at 20 to 30 degrees and snap them in. Working down the whole row this way. You might have to go back and check to see if none of the seams came a part slightly and if they did just give them a quick slap motion or use a rubber mallet “like I did” to close the gaps. The problem I found is people want to put this together piece by piece, and it just does not work well. If you make “whole rows at a time” and lock it to the previous row, it makes life so much easier and go very fast. Once I had the floor in my dining room and kitchen I had to move the refrigerator and the stove back by myself. I was afraid sliding them across the floor was going to hurt the finish regardless of having them sitting on a sheet. I was wrong and you can’t even tell I pushed a big and very heavy refrigerator and stove from one side to the other and the floor never even budged.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HORRIBLE CHEEP Garbage Purchased this product as replacement for the Benson Oak TrafficMaster product that i LOVED that was discontinued. This junk is thinner, delaminates during installation no matter how gentle it is handled. The edges chip and do not lock together, ( I would suggest glue). Overall if I hadn't already started the project with the Benson Oak I would scrap the whole 700sq and start over with a high priced product. TrafficMaster cut corners, cut quality and now you get what you pay for, Garbage. I will not buy this product again. Period.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic floor, for the price. Incredibly easy to install. Photos give the look of a light pinkish hue, floor color actually looks like a really dark red oak. We purchased 18 cases. We didn't run into a single piece that was defective. Floor was installed over existing hardwood floor (ceder). It was also not flat we had several areas that changed height by less than 1mm. From the other reviews I can see a lot of people may not know what they are doing, we followed the instructions given and used prior experience and it went incredibly smooth. Floor snapped into place well. We finished 400 sqft in about six hours. The only downside we came across was, if you do not have your pieces connected before you used the mallet to fully connect them, you can damage the seams causing them to not fit properly. We only needed: Miter saw (to cut ends off), table saw (to rip sides), Jig saw (special corners), Mallet, and wedge flooring tool kit (includes L-shaped and bar) I will update in six months.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really nice flooring for it's price if you take your time with it. Not really understanding the negative reviews. It's good looking flooring at a low price. I was very hesitant to buy this product based on some of these reviews and because it was so low price. You usually get what you pay for but I'm glad I went against that saying! A review I believe by Xmen MR said it right, TAKE YOUR TIME! I am a first time floor installer and taking your time was key. The planks are thin compared to more quality ones but it will still do the job. There wasn't one piece that didn't fit together nor a piece that was wasted because of damage. Also a pointer in Xmen Nr's review that helped greatly was stacking the row of planks over the last row of planks to make it easier to lock the planks without it completely falling apart. This is so much easier than doing it one by one, and will be a lot less damage to the planks. The only problem I had was that some of the planks would be connected but wouldn't lie down flat but instead stay angled at around a 45 degree angle. What worked for me was wiggling the planks until they would lie flat. DO NOT just push the planks down to the floor. Doing that will cause the locking edges of the plank to bend , chip, or simply break off. A friend of mine who has installed laminate floors before warned me about using force to make a fit. Also when using a pull bar or tapping block to tighten the planks make sure you are not placing it on the locking edges. After the finished product I was very pleased. Some parts of the floor does creak a little. My sub flooring is not perfectly flat so that could be the cause of the creaks. I don't understand the negative reviews of this product when I was able to install it on an uneven floor. Yes the quality of this product is not the best compared to others, but if done correctly you will definitely be happy with it if you are looking for a bargain price like I was.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good deal cant beat the price. I have done 4 laminate floors i use this one the last time i did and was a lil worried how cheap it was but very happy with it looks just the same after its down. Only down fall i can say it is thin so it will chip and break pretty easy but if you're carful its worth it for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product for the Price We have installed many laminate floors from high-end to bargain. This laminate, although not the thickness of something like Pergo, went down easily and looks great. Follow XMen MR's advice when installing. Worked like a dream. Most floors are put down one plank at a time, but not this one. Like XMen, we laid the floor one whole room length at a time. First we locked the ends together, then set the entire strip over the edge of the previously laid length almost like we were locking it, but not quite. This ensured that the newest length was very straight. Raise the section & snap in. We purchased the pro block and pro bar which was a real plus. We only used the block to tap the length edge to ensure that it was very tight. And only used the bar when we got to the end of the room to pull in the last length. Never had a chip!!! My 2 biggest recommendations are that you: 1. THOROUGHLY check that the ends of each plank are perfectly matched before you locking in the new length. 2. Try to use the same lot number/run. Look at the end of the boxes & choose the numbers that match. We didn't mix lots, so the floor looks great. One note... the color of the flooring is not quite what you are seeing on the picture. It is a little more golden in color. Be sure you get a sample from the store. They are free :) Happy flooring!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Have to agree, horrible cheap junk Purchased this without much thought. I talked to other people that had installed laminate flooring and they told me that they had bought the cheap stuff and installed it with no problem. That must have been some different cheap stuff. Right now my son, who was one of the people who told me that, has been struggling for two days to install my floor. It kept popping apart. He finally took a square and checked the planks. He found that they were manufactured out of square, which explains a lot. He has been checking for square and using those. We plan on taking the others back to Home Depot. Hopefully they will do something for us.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well if you take your time. This was the first time I have ever installed this type of flooring. The best advice I was given and I can give is to cut a bunch of random lengths before you start your corner. I mean, cut 1" pieces all the way up to 40" pieces and use them randomly at the beginning, so there is no apparent seams, it makes a huge difference when you are finished and it looks like real hardwood. Product is pretty flimsy, but you get what your pay for, also, buy the $10 installation bar, its worth it and dong bash the edges.
