Answer:
First off, eight tiles at 18" x 18" is equal to 18 sq ft, not 12.
Secondly, the tile is called 18" x 18" but that's actually a nominal measurement. When you include the width of the grout with the actual size of the tile, it's 18" x 18" total. So each piece is actually closer to 17.7" x 17.7" which would leave about 1/4" for grout.

How many tiles in a case? Also, it is advertised $.69/sqft, but dimensions are 18x18. Does it mean "per piece"?

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.1 out of 5 by 35 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice tile for the bathroom! I installed this on my master bath and it looks super cool and clean, it's ease to install and big enough to work with and cover more area with less mess...! April 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great, but... just like the other reviews a lot of them were different sizes. I made it work and my grout lines look good but it was a headache. April 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful I love my new ceramic tile. The price was low enough I could afford to get rid of the carpet downstairs and do the bathrooms upstair. It's beautiful and lightens the room. August 17, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Tile size varies. The tile looks good if you can find the same size, 5 of my 20+ boxes were bigger making my grout lines off, my installer is very irritated. We have had to pull up many tiles. I suggest measuring at the store. March 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This tile sucks!!!!!! Alot of tiles are not the same size making it impossible to do a clean job. I recommend used big grout lines for this tile. July 27, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Amazingly bad I put down almost 250 Sq.Ft. of this garbage. Its clean and looks decent, but actual sizes vary about 3/16" on average. Even at the price, this tile is unbelievably awful. If you decide to go against the reviews because of the price like I did - be prepared for brain damage and DEFINITELY don't try anything smaller than 1/4 grout lines. May 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by They look nice when installed but need more quality control from the factory You get what you pay for. These tiles vary up to 1/4 an inch in size which makes trying to make straight grout lines nearly impossible. A lot of the tiles had defects and chips straight from the box. They look good when installed and are by far the cheapest tile solution but not sure how long they'll hold up over time. If you must use I'd advise going with extra large grout lines to mask the size differences or stagger in different patterns. May 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by It is cheap for a reason The tile looks good but the tiles are different sizes, which makes getting straight and even grout lines nearly impossible. 2 out of 6 cases of tile were 1/8 of an inch smaller even though all the cases of tile were from the same lot. Some tiles were 17 3/4 while others were 17 5/8. Went back to the store to try to find additional cases of tile that measured 17 5/8 so I could match the tiles that I had already laid and could not find any. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this tile even though it looks good and is inexpensive. Spend a little more money to get a quality tile! March 31, 2016
