"I love these cattails. They are very substantial glass and even from afar they clearly look like glass and not plastic. By day, the 'brown' cattail has a whitish-yellow background with brown mustard streaks, and it glows pale yellow at night with mottled light brown effects. They glow for more than 4 hours at night, and I'm impressed because my yard gets hardly any direct sunlight.
The glass cattail flowers are capped by metal caps at each end and then they screw tightly onto the metal stems. They are very sturdy and secure, and there's no chance of them simply falling off. The stems and leaves are flexible enough to bend a little this way or that so you can spread out the arrangement a little if you want. The stem is long and comes with an 'h' shaped stake that is detachable and also the solar cell sits not on the flower's stem but separately on a stake of it's own. This is good because you can move the solar cell up to 10 or so inches away to a spot where it gets a bit more sun.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hopper This product raises the decorative level.
I placed these behind some garlic plants that are against a 6-ft. white fence. The solar cattails are just the right height to bring your eyes up as you look out across the yard. This seemingly makes the stark white fence not so ominous. Their slender shape adds to the whispy, breezy ambiance created by the plants. This solar cattail is easily assembled and remains illuminated for many hours into the night. The solar panel is on a spike. You can push it into the ground so only the solar panel part is showing. I have black mulch in my planters, which makes the solar unit virtually invisible. The top piece or cattail is actually made of a thick glass. No worries about the sun fading and destroying a piece of plastic. At night the cattails illuminate a golden hue. I wouldn't consider using them to illuminate a walkway due to their heighth. Even without the solar aspect, these are just pretty in a yard.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by kp27 best brand of solar light
This is our 2nd purchase of this light from HD. This brand is the best we've owned through the years. It may seem a bit pricey but the quality is there. These lights will last all night long without problem.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bobber Product is really unique and looks great!
This is a great looking product as well as quite unique. In fact, we purchased 4 of them. They are spread around our terrace in planters. Very easy to set up and teh brightness is just right for a nighttime lighting.... i.e. not too bright.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by texasgirl replacement of globe
the globes on my lights became loose and would fall off in the slightest breeze eventually breaking; while I couldn't replace the globes, I did find glass test tubes to use instead. It took a little engineering (tweaking) to make it work. To add a little extra you can use craft wire to wrap around the tubes to give it a little extra pizzazz

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Beadfreak Mine have never work
I bought two of these several years ago at another store (not THD) and they have never worked. Today one of the glass globes was broken by a landscaper working in my yard. I would like to replace the globe but don't want to buy a whole new yard light.
