Thank you for your question. While we’ve done submersion testing with Trex, we could not warranty this application as we do not know the long term effects. Thank you, Jodi Trex Customer Service

Composite Decking Trex Beach Dune Grooved Edge (Common: 1 in. x 5-1/2 in. x 16 ft.; Actual: .94 in. x 5.5 in. x 192 in.) is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 14.

Trex was suppose to be a no maintenance product that didn't fade. The color was supposedly guaranteed for the life of the product. Well it faded within 3 years. I see other comments saying the same thing. I love the Trex response that it is the older product and the newer one doesn't have this issue. Well supposedly the original wasn't suppose to have this issue either. Matter of fact there was a color fast guarantee. Think this new product has the same guarantee? Wouldn't trust any warranty from this company. As for the new product, we had to add a few more feet to our existing deck. The new decking is thinner than the original. The original was 1 1/8 inch thick. The new is 7/8 inch thick. Try matching that up to an existing deck. It obviously isn't as firm under foot. You will need more cross joints to support this weaker board. The protective cover, basically looks like a plastic coat, is very slippery. The original Trex was definitely non-skid and I always felt secure walking on it. This new stuff is non-grip. With soft rubber soles or bare foot, you will probably be okay, but with some water or leather soles, stay inside. The core material is also sub standard. The original Trex was one solid piece that was very strong. The new stuff is some kind of softer composite capped with that slippery plastic coating. I've already had some of the new stuff fail as the material broke off and the boards came loose. Do not recommend this product at all. Quality just isn't there. Other than the color fade, the original Trex was a far superior product. This new stuff seems like a cheaply made substitute.

Their warranty is worthless. I installed a deck in 2002, and after 2008, I tried to file a warranty claim with them because was all falling apart - flaking into nothingness, and they wouldn't "honor" their warranty because I couldn't produce any run numbers that are "clearly stamped on each board that is produced." Either that, or they wanted the sales receipts from the stores where I bought it. Hello - the boards are flaking apart - if there was a stamp, it flaked off. So, when I spend $10,000 again on a deck, I won't - and you shouldn't - use Trex. They've proved exactly what their warranty is worth. Nothing.

The product faded to the point where it needs to be stained (maintenance free). The real problem however is that it absorbs dirt and always looks gritty and dirty. I hate the look and am thinking of replacing the whole thing. I would avoid this at least for the floor decking. I thought the extra expense would be worth the maintenance free exposure. No way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this composite decking We had the Trex Beach Dune installed 3 1/2 years ago with the Trex universal fasteners, and it is holding up extremely well. It looks like real cedar! Yes, it does get hot in the sun, but so did the wood deck we had previously. You don't get splinters with the composite decking. I would never go back to a wood deck after having this Trex composite deck, as there is no maintenance. The color has not faded at all since we had it installed, and it hasn't warped either.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth the money The durability of these boards are not holding up for the money you spend.several boards were bowing out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Instant beauty Initial worries about the flexibility of the material using 16" centers were unfounded. Also whether the material would stand up to spike heals. Both were no problem. The hidden fastener system turned out to be wonderful and the 1/4" spacing perfect for looks and drainage. The only issue left is longevity. However the 25 year warranty seems to address that concern as Trex should be around for a long time. One star deducted for high cost.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the greatest product I purchased enough Trex decking for a 400 square foot deck. During the building process I was met with warped boards and most were not the specified 12 foot. Many were 12' 1/4 inch and a few less than 12 foot by as much as a 1/4 inch. The warping issue was the worst to deal with. It required using bar clamps to pull the boards into alignment...a serious time consuming problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from POOR QUALITY PRODUCT We installed 3000 ft of decking aprox 5 year ago. 50 percent of he decking is stained, faded, and is turning to sawdust. we are going to have to remove over half of this product and replace it. I can assure you it will not be with Trex. A poor product that the company will not stand behind.
