Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Quality, Reasonable Price. I just completed a 12'x14' deck project using these fasteners. They are black glass-filled nylon with black-topped stainless screws already inserted into each fastener. I used these to install Home Depot's Veranda Armor Guard decking. They were half the price of the other hidden fasteners and even cheaper than matching stainless screws. They are only useful for between-board installation on boards with a fastener notch routed into each edge. For edge boards against a house there's a single-sided clip also available or you can just used screws through the top of the board (which is what I did). The fastener enforces a quarter-inch gap between each board which seems to be fairly standard. Individual strength of these fasteners must be less than similar metal clips but given the number of them in the project, I feel that there's little risk of breakage. Any stray upward force applied to them is likely to be distributed over a large number of clips. Read the installation instructions, they're installed loosely at first then tightened in a second step. If you try to save time by tightening them fully at first, they'll be too tight to insert new boards. Not mentioned but also important is to try to keep the screw at right angles to the joist. An angled installation will make it difficult to insert new boards. Finally, be careful when tightening them on your second pass. Over-tightening them will drive the screw through the fastener.
