Product Overview

This Clear Finger Joint Primed Pine is a perfect product for many uses, especially for painting. Some of the many uses are fascia, corner boards, trim base molding, furniture parts, shelving, cabinets etc. It is pre-primed for your convenience with two coats of high quality factory applied primer. There are no knots to bleed through your final top coat of paint, making this a great product for painting. It is recommended that you top coat with a high quality latex paint for years of dependability. This Clear Finger Joint Primed Pine can be used for interior and exterior uses, separating it from many other products. It also has better stability than many fake wood products. Also, if you later decide to change the color, it repaints better than most fake wood products.

Customer Questions & Answers

Exterior use as a outdoor storage box

I see the description as interior/ exterior use. But the specs states it is not water resistant. Does that mean it just needs an exterior paint to be "water resistant." or does exterior and water resistant terms are not related.
Asked by: ecmiami
I would not recommend it. If you paint it real well with exterior paint and design the box to shed water, maybe. Still the wood is just plain pine with no treatment except a primer coat. I use a round-over router bit for the top edge and cap it with base cap trim for a real nice baseboard. All indoors.

Are there rounded / routered edges on the corners? If so, where and what radius?

Does this also come in 10' lengths?
Asked by: SteveH
Edges are square. I think they come in 10'. The HD near me has 8' and 12'. Could have sworn the HD close to where I go to church had 10', which is what I wanted but decided to pick them up later near my home. Passed on the 12' boards, they just won't fit in my van.

Would they cut it at the store?

Would they cut it at the store?
Asked by: Be
Unless that department is extremely busy or the saw is not working I'm sure they would. Also, all the HD's I've visited have a "cut your own" saw table in the millwork department.

Trim Board Primed Finger-Joint (Common: 1 in. x 4 in. x 8 ft.; Actual: .719 in. x 3.5 in. x 96 in.) is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect as painted trim I just installed six "new construction" windows in my Florida room and used the 1" x 4" primed boards to trim out the interior studs. Finger jointed boards work well for this since they are less prone to warp than natural pine. Once painted the joint lines disappear. For some unknown reason they're primed a light grayish color and not white but two coats of white covered nicely. If you need to rip them to a final width and cut them to the final length remember to prime and paint the exposed raw wood.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality primer After cutting and installing the primed boards as window and door casing, I used a high-quality Benjamin Moore paint to finish the job. Within ten minutes of applying the paint, bubbles started to appear. Some were the size of a quarter, and some were as large as a half-dollar. I cut around two of them and found that the primer had completely removed itself from the board, exposing the bare wood. The only two things that could cause this to happen are either poor primer or an extremely dirty surface which wouldn't allow the primer to bond. Either way, this will not save you time or money if you have to re-do an entire project.
