Questions & Answers

Exterior use as a outdoor storage box

I see the description as interior/ exterior use. But the specs states it is not water resistant. Does that mean it just needs an exterior paint to be "water resistant." or does exterior and water resistant terms are not related.

Hi, this wood is just primered, not sealed. I would go with pressure treated wood, or a unprimered wood and soak it in polyurethane.

Asked by: Be
Hi, yes they do cut wood at the store, how ever they do not offer precision cuts so the tolerance is 1/4 to 1/2 inch from what you request.

Are there rounded / routered edges on the corners? If so, where and what radius?

Does this also come in 10' lengths?
Asked by: SteveH
The edges are square. you would have to check with your local store to see if they stock a 10 foot size.

If you are looking for something to use to save a little time building window and door jamb extensions or planter boxes, etc, this can work for you, but do not expect consistency throughout the various sizes or batches. I have encountered numerous occasions in which using boards from different lots will result in varying thicknesses. Definitely not between the 1" x 2" or 1" x 3" sizes either. Most often the finger-joinery is weak and bleed-through results. For the time savings expect frustration.

This product works great and looks great. after a few coats of paint it looks like it could be made of metal. no knots or grain show through the primer when I got mine. They might of changed the color of the primer over time as mine was a dark grey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect as painted trim I just installed six "new construction" windows in my Florida room and used the 1" x 4" primed boards to trim out the interior studs. Finger jointed boards work well for this since they are less prone to warp than natural pine. Once painted the joint lines disappear. For some unknown reason they're primed a light grayish color and not white but two coats of white covered nicely. If you need to rip them to a final width and cut them to the final length remember to prime and paint the exposed raw wood.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality primer After cutting and installing the primed boards as window and door casing, I used a high-quality Benjamin Moore paint to finish the job. Within ten minutes of applying the paint, bubbles started to appear. Some were the size of a quarter, and some were as large as a half-dollar. I cut around two of them and found that the primer had completely removed itself from the board, exposing the bare wood. The only two things that could cause this to happen are either poor primer or an extremely dirty surface which wouldn't allow the primer to bond. Either way, this will not save you time or money if you have to re-do an entire project.
