I've been needing butcher paper and this seems like it but I'm not sure about it. I'm going to be using it for a school project, and its gonna be hanging up on a wall.

Heavier weight than butcher paper. Might not be safe to use in kitchen and food prep if in direct contact with food. Would not advise using it in oven!
For a school project it could be a versatile canvas (good surface for gluing things on and using crayons and magic markers.)

Answer:
It's the same color as butcher paper but it's thicker paper. It would be more durable than regular butcher paper. You could roll it up to transport it and because it's thicker it wouldn't cave in and wrinkle like if you rolled up butcher paper. I think it would be better to use. It's not flimsy and if there's a breeze it won't be blowing around or moving while it's hanging on the wall.

I know of two types of 'butcher paper' ... the first being waxed and often used as the paper next to the meat. And then the outer brown craft paper.
This paper is much stiffer [thicker] than the latter.
But for a school project that will hand from a wall, it should work well.

this is pretty much the same, with one difference. Butcher paper has one side lined with plastic. This is just brown "shopping bag" style paper on a roll.
I think it would be ideal for a school project.

Normally builder's paper is measured by its thickness and there are differences in even the selection offered by Home Depot. There is model #35166which is .063 inches thick. The roll weighs 13 lbs for 166 feet. Then there is #35140 which is more economical and is 140 feet long The ramboard is .046 inches thick. I'd think that there'd be an appropriate paper in HD for any DIYer.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BROWN BUILDER'S PAPER - SO USEFUL! Delays in renovation schedule had me desperate to protect the refinished hardwood floors, but I shouldn't have worried! this builder's paper was easy to put down, masking tape to each next strip and entirely cover the floor to protect from the last renovations including installation of countertops, appliance deliveries and four roommates moving in all their furniture and "stuff." Not a scratch on the floor! It is also nice and thick so I will be using builders paper for mailing packages from now on too! August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stuff!! Much easier to use than painters plastic, easy to set up and remove. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for moving too! Found this paper when I was looking for masking tape for a whole house move. It's great for large pictures, etc. I couldn't find anything else this big or this strong. Love it! July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Used for epoxy protection I build small boats using Epoxy as a glue. I had to laminate two pieces of Mahogany in place on the boat and needed to protect the interior. This worked great. I'm now thinking of using it under my laminating bench to protect the floor below. February 24, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simple, useful product Not much to say about a roll of paper, but it's what was expected. Good paper for protecting things during construction... July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the brown paper! I have a very large family that is spread out in several states. So I purchased the brown paper for wrapping presents and shipping packages. I love a country look and the brown paper lets me create a different look with each present. It's really thick so no peeking! So cost effective! June 22, 2016
