Can I use this as an extension cord for an air conditioner?

Can I use this as an extension cord for an air conditioner?
Asked by: Becca
If you're referring to a through-the-wall or window air conditioning unit, I would not recommend any extension cords. If you must use an extension cord, I would use a single outlet cord, one dedicated to the air conditioner. The Tripp Lite has 14 gauge wire, which is adequate for this purpose, but you run the risk of plugging more electrical devices into it and quickly exceeding it's capacity.

12-Outlet 120-Volt Surge Protector RJ11 8 ft. Cord 2160 Joule is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! Will buy again! This is great and I can plug all my tv/video equipment into it and have the protection I need for it all with the guarantee that comes with it. No matter the size of the plug it fits. Everything in one spot with no extra drop cords. I love it and will buy another when the need arises.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good Just purchased in the last month because we kept having power surges in our neighborhood. One finally blew out one of our computers and our previous suppressor. No problems so far. Don't know what is up with the neighborhood, but glad I have this to protect our data

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Well designed surge protector, Well-spaced sockets for all the weird sized plug a lot electronic devices have that usually render some outlets useless because they covered them up due to their large size. Plus plenty of sockets for associated electronic devices.

And you hope you never need to find out. The reason I purchased this model is because it has an indicator light and if the unit becomes unusable, it shuts off the power.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As reliable as ever Every tripp lite product I own has never given me issues of any sort. I have roughly $5000 of equipment plugged into mine and I have never thought twice about it. Great product and killer warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value and outlet design. I've used a lot, but this one is packed with features and is large enough for all the odd size plugs.
