are the blades made of real wood?
Asked by: kp
They are not wood. It is a composite material with a faux wood laminate design, cherry on one side and a walnut color on the opposite.

Customer Reviews

Sprite 42 in. Pure White Ceiling Fan with Light is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks good online, cheap quality, impossible installation! I bought this fan because of it's perfect size and low profile for a smaller room. As it comes out of the box everything looks ok but once you start to install you see the problems. The screws are terrible quality and tend to strip easily and as you install the antique bronze coating begins to flake off. It says that it designed for flush mount but I cannot see that happening. On a DIY scale I would rate myself an easy 8/10...I have installed dozens of fans and fixtures, I can chain outlets, but I have never attempted to install anything this bad. If you go for the flush mount it recommends you hang it from a tiny tab while you hook up the electrical wires. Tab one bent and snapped off so I was extra careful with tab 2. Once hanging and hooked up it said to install the blades. Please see this linked image: Arrow #1 is the ceiling mount attached by, at this point, 3 tiny screws (and one snapped off tab). Arrow #3 is where the fan blade must be angled up into the slot and arrow #2 is where you drop the screw into the hole, hoping it magically goes through the fan blade and into the appropriate hole while the fan mount continues to spin in circles. Oh, and if you miss?....the screw goes into the motor and is irretrievable. Should you manage to center the blade, get the screw through both holes and stabilize it you now have a grand total of slightly over 3 inches to get your screwdriver in and tighten. While the fan assembly continues to spin. Lastly, there is no independent fan and light function. The fan operates at low/medium/high and at any time the light/power is on, the fan is on. There is no option to turn on the light only or fan only...if you turn on power you get both. Final nail in the coffin - the light fixture is extremely dim (50 watts total) and the glass cover is so thin you can see the outline of the bulbs against the backdrop of the asssembly. Even if you decide the cheap quality/ok appearance is worth driving yourself insane over to try and install it - trust me - don't waste your time, I un-installed the flush mount option thinking the drop down rod would make it easier and it was get slightly more room to try and navigate the screws through the slot but the upward angle of the blade and the ever rotating fan assembly still make it impossible. 3/8 screws went into the motor ... 1 screw attached. Twenty minutes into the drop down rod blade assembly option and the whole fan came down and went back to the store. Buy a Hamilton Bay instead. Quality is higher, price is about 1/3 of the TroposAir, you get independent light and fan function AND a remote control. 4/4 Hamilton Bay fans in my house are still operating perfectly 6 years later.
