Answer:
Yes. I used it to drywall an 8/12 ceiling 14 1/2 feet high (with the extension) in the attic of our historic home. Worked very well. Was pleased, and neighbors have borrowed it to do the same.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It works Product works as represented. Do your short ceilings before exchanging the extension as you need a new cable tie to change back. April 29, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by works well but has limitations I purchased this lift to install drywall on a 12 foot ceiling and walls by myself. Because of the height, I had to swap out the center pole to the longer one. When doing this, one has to cut the end of a cable, swap the part, then crimp a new connector to the end of the new cable. This makes it impossible to swap back and forth without shortening the cable time and time again (they only give you one crimp connector). The longer center pole will not go low enough to hang drywall at about 4 feet high (the shorter one will), which would be the second course of drywall on a normal home installation (I was building a large workshop with 12 foot high walls. I was unable to use this lift for the second course once I had swapped out the center pole. This lift SHOULD HAVE a connector for the cable that can be attached, removed and adjusted without crimping it so one can swap the center pole back and forth as often as needed. Also, the wheels do not "caster" easily and I found I had to kick one or two of the wheels to get them to twist in order to move the lift another direction. Cheap wheels are a real pain. I am sure for a buck or two more, better wheels could have been used on this thing. All in all, having a drywall lift is a real help when you are by yourself. March 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product! I would highly recommend this product. It works well every time and was a great price August 26, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Slightly different use Instead of sheetrock, I will be lifting metal roofing panels to use as ceiling panels.......I will probably sell when I am finished.....could have rented, but figured this was most efficient plan June 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Who needs a helper I am happy with the product. It allowed me to install sheetrock on a ceiling by myself. December 12, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Works well for the money I have rented Drywall lifts in the past, but with a large project looming, I figured it would be cheaper to buy than rent. I ordereded from The Home Depot Online which was a snap, However, picking up the item at my local HD was a brutal 2 day ordeal... Anyway, I finally got the lifter to the site and had it assembled in a few minutes, less the crank handle which. was missing (I opted to make one as I didn't want to wait for HD to send a replacement, if they even would) The lift is fairly well made, good enough for most applications and certainly a good value. the lifter works well and I was able to lift and place drywall panels as well as some floor joists, with ease. Some of the cons: aside from the aforementioned missing handle, are: The breakes on the caster wheels don't work at all, However, I haven't needed to use them yet so it's not a big deal to me. The cable tends to favor one side of the drum thus winding unevenly, this causes it to periodically slip off the lower winding and the sheet to drop an inch or so. While I doubt there is any danger it is somewhat annoying. As would be expected, the instruction manual is poorly written and there is absoultly no instructions for the installing the extension. Luckily I didn't need any instructions. Also There is no way to lock the upright extending column to the base, this is only a problem if you need to lift the unit while assembled, it will detach from the base unless you pick it up from the base. I will be installing a bolt to remeady this. I hope you found this helpful. December 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product, Works Well This product worked as promised and assisted in dry wall hanging as we had hoped. Due to knee injuries some of our help was unable to assist and this made the job much easier. Note: The extension was shipped in a different box to the store and misplaced. We did not even realize we were missing it until they called us a week or so later and found it laying in some racking. Be sure if you order with extension you pick up BOTH boxes. August 21, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Poor design You have to cut the cable every time you put the extension on and cut the cable to take it off. Every time loosing 4 inches of cable and after it has been changed 3 or 4 times you have to replace the cables. June 26, 2013
