I'm doing sheet rock in a room with a 13 ft ceiling. Is this hoist capable of lifting a sheet to a 13 ft horizontal height?

Asked by: Homeowner
I have only used it on 8 and 10 foot ceilings so I do not know. Sorry.

What size door will this hoist fit through?

Need to hang drywall in a bedroom. What size door will this hoist maneuver through when not loaded?
Asked by: DenaG
it breaks down so it will go through any size door, and you can hang sheet rock in a very small bathroom with it

will this work for 12 ft sheets of dry wall

Asked by: fred
I used it for 8'... but I do have a friend that used his for 12' sheetrock. The arms extend out to easily hold an 8' panel... it may not reach the ends of the 12', but that should not be a problem.

I was initially frustrated as this item was damaged in shipping and the cable snapped on first use. Once I repaired the cable, this item has worked very well. My son and I were able to quickly hang 20 sheets of sheetrock on a ceiling over a weekend. I can't even imagine trying that feat without this. This hoist is not professional grade and is not as durable as the one rented at my local homedepot. It is durable enough for me to accomplish all of the sheetrocking I will do in my lifetime. I highly recommend this item for any home owner hanging a large amount of sheetrock. If you are looking to use this commercially, I would go for a more durable product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job There are a few minor adjustments for this model to make it less annoying. The wheels are the first problem as it roll easily, even after greasing them. The center break/kick stop long enough. I pulled the rubber off and stuff it with some wood pieces to make it longer so it would catch on the floor. The sliders were bent and had to be hammered out to get them working. I give it 4 because one is $35 a day before tax and I have 3 rooms to do and would have spend close to purchase price so saved me a lot of and future jobs as well as i can do 12' pieces easily by myself.

It's not as good as the one we rented but for the price it works just fine. We were able to get the ceiling in our garage done pretty quickly with it. It was pretty easy to put together. The castors don't roll as great as the more expensive one we rented. They seem to catch more often and don't seem to turn as easily as the one we rented but that's a minor annoyance. It's totally worth having one at the house ready to use when we are ready and not having to rent one every time we want to put up some drywall.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from used piece of garbage Got this thing in the mail today. Dropped off by UPS. I had read the previous review that stated the person I've gotten used equipment and I chose not to believe them. Well this was a used piece of garbage bent dinged up half the paint scraped off the train label on it's barely readable half of it's missing. Now I'm on my way back to Home Depot to the store to return this piece of garbage and get my money back.

I was concerned about the stability of such equipment but ma very pleased with most of it. My only complaint is that the cable which lifts the column rolls up all to one side instead of back and forth. At some point it piles up too much and falls over on the spool. That allows the column (and therefore the panel) to drop slightly. Safe but startling!

One person can handle the job of lifting, positioning and securing any drywall/plywood panel onto the ceiling or wall. I should've gotten this years ago!!! You can tilt or position the panel at the angle you desire, roll it around and crank the handle to lift it into place while it stays securely held in the arms.

It lifted 4 X 8 sheets up to an 8 foot ceiling without a problem. It can be moved to wherever it is needed to place sheet rock panels where they need to be placed. It can handle pieces as small as 3 X 4 sheets all the way up to 4 foot by 12 foot sheets..
