The problem with this product is that it tends to significantly bow out if you are in an expansive soil area even if you install it over plywood. Just check with the county/city to make sure you are in an stable area or you will end up ripping all the siding out.

Answer:
If you install this directly to the studs you will not meet building code shear requirements. Check your local building code requirements, since it is just a shed. If you have to have a shear rating on your project you will have to add a shear rated sheathing behind it, unless you use a shear rated siding panel. Hope this helps with your project

Hello ShedBuilder! Great question... Yes you can install this directly to the stud in a Shed, however you will need to take into consideration the the Lap Edges of the Sturdy Panel... Good Luck on your Build! Hope this Helped. BTW I would use screws over nails when installing... Just my Preference!
I also did my review on these Panels below & I included a few pics too...

I'm doing a complete re panel on the exterior of a mobile home. Can I install this siding right on to the studs? The install video from the manufacturer says as long as it's at 16" between studs I can but people are saying I can't...which is it?

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Just want I needed! I purchased this to use on the exterior walls of my doghouse and it worked flawlessly! It's quite heavy, but adds a lot of strength and durability to the dog house. I was able to use is horizontally like normal siding and reuse the cut pieces vertically without any issues. It was easy to paint and only needed one coat (but of course I gave it two). A few of the edges and corners were bashed and bent from the order picker putting it on the cart but other than that it's perfect. Just make sure to inspect the edges and grooves. March 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Panel For a Shed or Outer Wall Sheathing Bought these to side a shed I built. Was east to cut & handle by oneself. This Stuff is Heavy Duty! The lap provided is a nice touch & made for easy installation over the 3/4 inch Styrofoam insulation board. It's Pre Primed so wasn't worried about weather till I was able to trim & paint the whole shed. I just wish they were a bit more affordable. September 1, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I was looking for. I put this siding on an older double wide. It was fairly easy to install with no help. I like the fact that it is primed. It was very easy to paint and looks very good. It made an old mobile home look like a house. Also it was very affortable. October 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good enough for the price I used this paneling for the roofing on a patio cover. I like the tongue and groove look without the high cost. May 9, 2012
