16 in. Ditch Bank Blade with Wood Handle is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from I don't know what star rating to give this thing.... I don't know what star rating to give this thing. I just tried it out this morning on a cover crop of cowpeas that have been growing for 2 months. Green vines, no hard wood. The blade hardly sliced through the stems, but rather gathered them up in the curved blade. My idea was to slice through the top growth and let it fall as a mulch. I had the blade sharpened by the man who sharpens my lawnmower blades, ax and knives. That said, maybe I just don't know how to use it properly. I thought from the picture that the blade was curved up, rather than to the side. I read someone's review that said you need to be prepared for a work out, and he was right. The handle is heavy, which I'm sure increases the momentum and moving force of the blade but whew! I was panting after a few strokes. I ended up using it as a chopper rather than a whacker. Could be that it's just too much blade for what I needed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice Hickory Handle... too bad the incorrect grain orientation gives no striking strength If you know about tool handles, you know that grain orientation is very important. I used a different brand for years. I used it every day while land surveying, and never had a problem. I've bought two True Temper brush blades, and both of the handles broke on the first day. It's completely due to the grain being the wrong way. You can't put any force on them. So... I'm getting a third one (because I can't find a different brand), and I'm going to wrap the handle with fiberglass and hope it holds up. The only reason I'd recommend this is because there aren't many other options. Just don't expect the handle to have any striking strength.

Not industrial quality designed to be used by NFL sized men but rather a fairly heavy duty homeowner quality tool. It cuts in one whack what a machete does in five. It's not an axe to be used on trees but does a great job clearing brush from fence rows.
