Very simple to assemble with a 1/2-inch socket and a wrench (or two 1/2-inch sockets). Took less than 10 minutes. (Hint: the two support bars have a specific way they should be attached. It's easy to tell the correct way, so place them by hand first.)
The telescoping feature is fantastic. The buttons are large, making them easy to use while wearing gloves. Smart move by the designer. The shaft is an oval which gives it strength. This keeps the pole from bending, essentially making the rake longer than one with a lot of give. Another nice touch is the course texture on the entire outside, lower shaft. The coating makes it really easy to grip and handle. I was very impressed.
I pulled the snow off the front of my cape (about 35 feet) in less than 45 minutes, and that includes dealing with stairs, uneven ground and my compulsion for an absolutely clear roof.
The price is about what seems to be normal for roof rakes, but I'd have to guess this is among the best considering the great design and ease of use.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by jbreitmun No more roof leaks from ice dams form
A couple weeks ago we had the perfect recipe weather to create havoc on roofs. It snowed like crazy, about 15", and then it got warm enough, just a little while, for some of it to start melting. Suddenly, a hard freeze came over the region causing all that flowing water to immediately freeze. Of course this so happens right where the gutter meets the roof. I'm talking an almost 10" high by 8" thick ice dam! Well the following day it starts to get a little warm again but I am in a hurry to get to work. Should've known when I got home later in the day all that melting snow had no where to run off at so it all started to back up under my shingles. Once under the shingles it was lovely enough to work its way into my attic and ultimately down my bedroom and office walls! I will mention just about a week prior I had just repainted these rooms!
Well to make a long story short I needed a way to remove all the snow and ice from my roof so I borrowed a neighbors snow rake and put my order in online for this roof rake. I also had to use some ice melt to help clear the ice dams. It arrived a few days later, fortunately, as we just experienced another snow storm. So from here on out it is all about prevention. It will be now to shovel the driveway and rake the roof with each falling snow.

I had experienced ice dams that lead to a leak in my house. Got the roof rake which was easy to assemble, and wasn't that hard to use. When fully extended it can be a bit cumbersome, but rember you have 17' of extended pole in front of you. It can move a lot of snow. For the money you can't beat it. I use it to clear icicles, snow and it can be used to get that child's toy off the roof. Just please watch out for power lines when using it.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by JR68 durable roof rake, gets the job done
Took about 10 min to put together, looks like its made with quality materials. The telescoping lock mechanism is solid. The rake itself (shovel part at the end) is very sturdy. I had no problems at all raking the roof of my 1-story ranch, which I was able to rake the bottom 5-6 feet entirely from the ground. The only improvement possible is to add wheels to keep an offset from the shingles. But as long as you're not slamming it onto your roof, they really aren't necessary. I picked this up the night before a storm hit, and therefore didn't get a chance to shop around much. After using it, I have no regrets whatsoever, and would recommend this to anyone

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Mammy Works great even with a lot of snow!
I was so pleased with the quality and performance of this roof rake. I needed something light but strong and this rake fits the bill. The telescoping handle works very easily and is exactly what I was hoping for. I used it to pull off over a foot of snow and it reached almost halfway up my roof. Some of the snow was a few days old and therefore harder than the fresh snow on top, but it worked like a charm. I would highly recommend this product!
