Last year I had Ice dams on the Northwest facing side of the house, the side with a full dormer. So there I put up heat wrap wire to keep the edges warm during snow storms. Since we really have had a very mild winter that seems to have worked but really can't determine for real. On the front side of the cape I have Solar Panels. Last year they were covered by snow most of the winter and I did not make any electricity for at least 2 months. So I purchased this rake. Putting it together is the hardest part of using it. Once that is done it's pretty simple to use. Just telescope to the desired length and rake the snow down.l and that is pretty much that. It would be nice to be another 7 feet taller but then of course it would become unwieldy.

This type of tool had all but disappeared util I recently found it at my Home Depot store. My experience in the past was a home-made version, which was heavy, bulky and difficult to use.
This roof rake is very lightweight, durable and because of the telescoping handle, very easy to use. Fully extended, I am able to reach 12-15ft up the slope of my roof and clear the snow out from behind the wood stove chimney and this eliminates the fear of a snow load coming down on someone as they enter the back door.
I did not read product reviews before I decided to buy, based on having looked for one for many years.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Edickent AWESOME awesome AWESOME!
I had 2-3" of snow covering all my solar panels for like a week-now, picked this up at local HD, assembled it in 3-4 minutes and went to work. 10-minutes later, DONE! Design is awesome: plastic-face and light-weight, so it won't hurt my solar panels. Design allows you to "push" the rake up the roof and the head simply floats over the snow, but when you pull-back down, IT DIGS IN, and does a marvelous job. Took me such little time I felt guilty, and did the rest of my roof too! All while wearing my deck-shoes!!! Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Putting together was a little confusing. Instructions were on both sides of a sheet of paper. It was for 2 different types of roof rakes so make sure your following the right side! Also, the screws/bolts were kind of difficult to line up & took us some time to screw together. But once it was done, the roof rake works as it should! Gets the job done! I really like the telescoping aspect. Makes it much easier! I've only had to use it about 4 times so far, so hopefully it stays intact! I hate snow!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by annie Great store service from Mike McKendrick
Mike McKendrick at the Grand Junction CO store was very helpful. I had been to Lowe's and Sutherlands looking for a roof rake. Mike said they were out of stock BUT I could order a rake on line and then he helped me with the order. The other stores just said "out of stock" and did nothing to help me order or find!
Mike was key for me getting the Roof Rake that I put together and used at our cabin at Steamboat Springs CO.

Was looking for a cheap roof rake and ended up going with this one, which wasn't the cheapest, but I am glad I did. Feels like a a high quality roof rake and the telescoping feature makes it much easier to handle and store.

This is a well made snow rake. Long enough to do the job....any longer and it would be unwieldy. Seems to be well....lightweight but sturdy. I have been wanting a good roof take for a long time. I'm glad I found this one.

The rake came in handy to get the snow off the roof of my gazebo after a 34"snowfall. The weight of the snow was causing the roof to sag and I need to get the snow off the roof before it collapsed.
