What has True Temper done about the rivet problem on the metal scraper edge? (Rivets consistently wear and pop off very quickly!)

Great question. Mine came off the first season and the rest of the shovel started to break apart. Should have returned it when it happened.

Its too bad because it moves alot of snow, but it just doesnt hold up. It will still move snow without the scraper, but the plastic gets thinner and thinner to the point where it gets so thin that the shovel cracks and is useless. It is not a good scraping shovel since the rivets wear out and the plastic will wear out. I wish I could buy the lower half of the shovel since I now have 3 handles. Read Less

I've had my SnoBoss for about 3 years and never had an issue with the rivets coming off. The blade is still on my shovel and we've had some bad winters with several feet of snow in one day. Could this be a new issue? Or maybe it has to do with how each person uses it? I tend not to do heavy scraping, but more pushing/plowing the snow bearing weight on the plastic part of the shovel. This shovel has saved my back. The only thing I'd like better is if the blade was sharper and can scrape wet/sticky snow down to the pavement to prevent the driveway from icing over. Works fine on fluffy snow as is. Read Less

Answer:
You are 100% correct. The metal strip on my shovel lasted half the winter before the rivets just wore out. I don't know about any plans to correct the problem but I do know that the shovel is not worth buying. It's a shame too, because otherwise it is a good design. "Don't buy it." is my advice

Answer:
The wear strip design was improved to prevent the rivets from making contact with the surface while shoveling.

Bought it for the ergonomic advantages, but it also moves a lot of snow. Cleans the driveway and walkways faster. One heavy scoop on this shovel is comparable to two light scoops with my other shovel. Only gave it 4 stars because it is heavy, without snow on it. This shovel is meant for bigger guys, but the rest of us can still get a job done quicker with it than without itl Another con would be storing it for the off season because of it's size. . Took longer to get here than I expected, but looking back I'm glad I got it now.

On the average snow it is just as quick as my snow thrower, the main difference is I am the gas. The wide blade and curved allows me to move quite a bit of snow without stress on my back.
