What has True Temper done about the rivet problem on the metal scraper edge? (Rivets consistently wear and pop off very quickly!)

Great question. Mine came off the first season and the rest of the shovel started to break apart. Should have returned it when it happened.

I have had 3 of these shovels over the last couple years. The rivets on all of them have fallen apart and I ended up ripping the rest of the blade off because it was scratching my walk and driveway. Its too bad because it moves alot of snow, but it just doesnt hold up. It will still move snow without the scraper, but the plastic gets thinner and thinner to the point where it gets so thin that the shovel cracks and is useless. It is not a good scraping shovel since the rivets wear out and the plastic will wear out. I wish I could buy the lower half of the shovel since I now have 3 handles. Read Less

I've had my SnoBoss for about 3 years and never had an issue with the rivets coming off. The blade is still on my shovel and we've had some bad winters with several feet of snow in one day. Could this be a new issue? Or maybe it has to do with how each person uses it? I tend not to do heavy scraping, but more pushing/plowing the snow bearing weight on the plastic part of the shovel. This shovel has saved my back. The only thing I'd like better is if the blade was sharper and can scrape wet/sticky snow down to the pavement to prevent the driveway from icing over. Works fine on fluffy snow as is. Read Less

Answer:
You are 100% correct. The metal strip on my shovel lasted half the winter before the rivets just wore out. I don't know about any plans to correct the problem but I do know that the shovel is not worth buying. It's a shame too, because otherwise it is a good design. "Don't buy it." is my advice

Answer:
The wear strip design was improved to prevent the rivets from making contact with the surface while shoveling.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 106 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic snow shovel but plastic falls apart quickly Easiest snow shovel I have every operated. Simply push-plow and toss. Unfortunately the metal lip on the plastic shovel came off the first season and the rest of the plastic shovel slowly started to disintegrate. It is all but useless now on year 4. I have been trying to find a replacement shovel. After all it comes in two pieces and assembly is required so I should be able to find a replacement shovel and avoid buying it all over again. I have had no success so far in finding a replacement part. I have had cheaper snow shovels last much longer. Shame. March 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Makes shoveling easier Great price and opted for store pickup. Shovel is great ergonomically... Snow still does not shovel itself though :-) March 8, 2016
