I have used this tool to remove three tub drains; so far it works well for me. It is made of aluminum so it is light weight and never corrodes; but is also a soft metal. I recently updated the drain in one of our bath rooms that our daughter used for several years. I was amazed that when I pulled the drain out a "rope" of hair about 18" long came out of the drain pipe! (see photos) That alone made the tool worth the price for me.

I was so happy how well it worked, after many attempts to remove the old drain. It took only two turns to break it loose!

do not get this if your drain is old. it will bust the teeth. it has proved ineffective with our old tub drain

I purchased this to remove the drain so I can continue with the remodel. It did not work at all even though it said it will work on most drains. Mine was a plain Delta.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by 8Man Should not be made of aluminum
The drain I was trying to remove has been in place for 50 years. It is going to be tough drain to remove. Inserted the tool and one of the four teeth of the tool broke on the first attempt. The tool may be okay for a newly installed drain, but is not built to tackle a tough drain. It needs to be made of steel, not aluminum.

This tool proved to be useless to me as it only seemed to further complicate matters by breaking the drain, causing me more problems.
