Product Overview

Tyco Electronic's Non-metallic splice and tap kits provide a fast and reliable method for splicing or tapping 2 wire w/ ground and splicing 3 wire w/ground non-metallic cables up to 300 volts. They are designed and approved for use in rework within existing structures. Splice and Tap Kits also eliminate wire nuts for installation and replace the conventional method for adding a splice or tap for non-metallic cable without the need for exposed and unsightly junction boxes. Customer Questions & Answers

Can splice kit be used with NM-B 12/3 600 volt Romex

Asked by: abe
They sell both the "2 wire" and the "3 wire" kits. The 2-wire is available in store and has clearly marked channels for "BLACK - GREEN - WHITE" wires. I would *hope* that the 3-wire kit means it will have an additional "RED" channel and isn't some weird re-packaging of the 2-wire kit.

Why does the Tyco Romex 3 Wire Splice Kit, stipulate that it is for NM-B 12/3 Romex up to 300 Volts, When NM-B 12/3 Romex is Rated for 600 Volts?

2nd Request for same question, please answer the question.
Asked by: Abe
As long as everything is rated higher than the actual voltage, you're ok.

can romex 3 wire splice connectors go bad? And how can you test.

Asked by: gomez83
It is possible if it was wired improperly or damaged. You simply use an electrical tester, and depending on which one you use, by using it while the line is live or dead. If you are unsure, use a multi-meter tester and test it while it is unenergized for your safety. Joseph

Customer Reviews

Romex Splice Kit 3 Wire, 1/Clam is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Fix! Finally there is a cure for that mid-job wire shortage. When 20ft and 30ft of existing cable will get the 50ft you need, that saves time and money. This actually is a good splice to use. Gave it a 4 instead of a 5 (needs rubber seal on connector for those humid attic jobs).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product should be on every homedepot shelf. It's a shame that this product is not in the stores any more I used it very often and was very disapointed when I could not find it any more. It is still listed as a code product and should still be found in the store. The three wire unit comes in more handy than the two wire in the field.
