The exhaust pipe is not perpendicular to the stove, this means the pipe exits at an angle not 90 degrees. It;s aluminum, and it was close to the back shield, I had to use pliers to bend the sheet metal out of the was to make the pipe collar slide on the exhaust . The Ignition system does not work, you need to use lighter fluid to get it lit. After the initial dissatisfaction the stove does work and look nice.
The factory inspection prior to leaving the warehouse was a joke.
It weighs 300 lbs, taking it back $$ to get another is a joke.

I installed this 5 days ago and already the igniter won't work correctly. I have to shut it off, empty the pot and restart. Sometimes 3 or 4 times. I emailed and called for customer service and that didn't help much. One reply was, "It sometimes takes 15 minutes to fire." You should see how full it gets after 10 min on it lowest setting. It took me over 30 min to clean out about 2 lbs of pellets. Also, more pellets miss the pot than fall in during operation. Not happy!!!

I started using pellet stoves in 1992, and I was impressed. Over time, fuel cost has risen a little, but very acceptable. I've had this stove for about 4 yrs or better. The self ignition went out after the first cold season, but, since my first stove didn't have that feature, it didn't bother me very much. 2nd season, I spent two weeks, building fires and waiting for blower to cut in, to no avail. 3rd week, it came around and I was finally warm. This year, as far as I can tell, the circuit board is out. It's either that or the plug, which I didn't know could be replaced. It's not a complicated contraption, but I'm feeling my way, cautiously. It would be nice to have a service person in the region, at least. This stove, and another, on the main floor of my log cabin, are my primary source of heat. Wish me luck.

This stove is poor quality, cheaply made, with substandard parts and components. I've owned this stove since November 2010, and have experienced unceasing cascade of failures. The room fan failed less than 72 hours after installation. I've invested over $461.00 in parts including exhaust fan, exhaust temperature thermister, air pressure switch, and igniter. Now, the PCB igniter board has failed requiring $415.00, with shipping, to replace it.
This stove is a very poor long-term investment. As someone who has "been there", I strongly caution against purchasing any US Stove products. Read more reviews on Amazon to get a good picture of just how bad this stove really is.

I have owned many wood and this is the third pellet stove. My lid micro-switch wasn't making so intermittently it wouldn't start up (auger wasn't running). So stove would error out. This stove is simple, and seems to run well. Runs a long time with 120 lbs of pellets! Will do an update after my first winter season with it.

I have been burning this stove for 7 years now, I am very pleased with it! I have replaced the igniter a few times but gave up on it. I have mastered how to manually light it and could not be happier.....7 years and still rolling out HEAT.

This is a great little stove. It packs a powerful heating punch. Just got it hooked up and burned my first two bags through it. We have a 2400 ft 2 house and it keeps it warm and toasty. Im looking forward to many years of use out of this stove.

I purchased our 5500M in 2013. Two winter heating seasons in and this baby keeps us toasty. We run it as our primary heat source to keep our electric bill from skyrocketing. Usually keep it on setting number 1 and it keeps the house at a perfect 70-72 degrees on days that are high 20's. Really cold nights (teens and single digits) we set it on 2 and it makes it comfortable. Unlike the expensive units this baby burns every pellet you put in it. Of course low quality pellets produce less BTUs but the 5500M even keeps the worst pellets burning. Sometimes you have no choice but to buy what is available. Our house is smaller than 2200 sq/ft so this unit can get the place real hot. But you should ALWAYS install heating or AC that will be more than you need.
