I never thought I'd love a stove as much as our soapstone (mostly because it's beautiful and holds the heat) but my husband wanted steel because of the quick heat and more heat. I looked around a lot for a steel stove that would heat our two story 2200 sq ft 100 year old farmhouse. Granted it hasn't been that cold yet... Lows at night around 26 degrees, but so far I love this stove. I love how the ash pan works, how quickly it heats the room and the stove stays warm all night without having to get up numerous times, ease of lighting, the blower and it is an attractive stove. The window stays clear if you keep the temperature up. We have a stovepipe thermometer and try and keep it above 250. The only drawback is it smokes back into the room when you open the door if you don't have the damper all the way open and if there isn't a lot of heat in the box. That could be a chimney problem too but it didn't happen with the soapstone. All in all we are very pleased with this stove.

This stove claimed to hold a fire for up to 30hrs. on low, it does not hold one for more than 12hrs. on low. The firebox is to small to hold enough wood to last for 30hrs. The blower works good for heating up the house and keeping it warm, but as soon as the blower is turned off, the stove only heats a small area. The best feature on this stove is that it burns the extra gases from the smoke instead of letting them go up the chimney. If the fire has to be restarted, (cleaning out ashes) it takes a long time to get going again. The damper is easy to operate, and the glass door is nice for seeing when to add more wood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great performing well built quality stove ! First off let me say that i am a wood burning stove addict .. Just ask my wife and friends ...lol I have purchased and used quite a few stoves not to mention purchase used ones, rebuild them then resell .. its like a hobby for me that i quite enjoy and they all have little perks of good and bad .. there are many things that will effect the performance ... chimney set up , proper draft , moisture content of firewood etc.. " wood must be dry as in seasoned " not green or fresh cut .. These stoves are efficient airtight units and if you try to burn wet green wood not only will you be frustrated , you will also promote some serious creosote buildup issues real quick from excessive smoke smoldering which can lead to potential chimney fires.. I purchased this stove due to fact it did have good positive reviews , the price really was great and after i checked it out in person i also determined this was a good built quality unit and was going to give it a try ..I honestly cant say anything negative about any of its features that it has to offer .. Now keep in mind i use dry wood as in seasoned for a one year minimum .. Once i get a small fire started i add a few small pieces of spilts like within a 2inch by 4 inch diameter which is my personal preference .. once fire has been established, which only takes a few minutes then i close door completely and adjust damper slide control accordingly .. be careful not to overload the fire box area .. remember different wood types burn hotter and more aggressive then others .. For me my average fire is about four to five pieces of smaller splits like i mentioned above with air control setting at about halfway to 3/4 closed for great producing heat .. These adjustments can vary depending on how well your draft is based by your chimney setup etc .. Mine is straight up approx 9ft to vaulted ceiling then exits through roof for another 4ft out of peek ridge area .. Like i said draft rates can easily vary .. So how does this stove perform ? EXCELLENT .. The secondary burn feature works absolutely perfect with a mesmerizing effect." Actually better then a high priced stove i had on the past "...The fire gently rolls along the upper portion of stove like a cloud where the air tubes are located burning the secondary smoke .. Now the big question that everybody asks , will it hold a fire overnight ?? For me i have to load it up around 11 or midnight to still have some red hot coals by 5 to 6am .. I personally dont like damping it down all the way down .. for one , it reduces the heat output and two the fire can smolder more producing more of a chance for potential creosote buildup etc ..You will get different burn rates from different people due to how they operate the stove I also recommend using a heat thermometer on the the stove so you can adjust its burn rate accordingly ..Im very picky with my stoves and i clean my glass every few days with glass cleaner to keep it crystal clear .. the ash pan is a great feature to have although for me i only have to clean out stove about once a month if that .. this stove burns really great with minimal ash left over .. ..Now ,.things to consider when buying a stove ... number is the " model size " as in what size would work properly for the area you wish to heat .. people often buy a stove based on price and appearance and overlook its realistic output .. Ok so i rambled on enough and i must say again this is a great stove especially for the price . Remember only burn firewood " dry seasoned " no cardboard or other things that can seriously damage the stove , keep your stove pipe and chimney flue cleaned on a regular basis .. I do mine beginning of season and halfway through season not to mention a few visual views down the chimney just to be safe .. If you can't do this on your own .. I highly advise you to get a reputable professional .. Wood stoves are a tremendous cozy heat source but also require yearly maintenance.. This stove gets a two thumbs up !!

We just received this a few days ago after having to reorder due to the first order being incorrect. 2 days ago was the first burn. House stinks like cigarettes ...even with windows open and snowing ....the blower at the bottom works great as well as the miracle heat blower on the stack kicking in once the heat comes up. We are now into the 2nd burn, less stench of the paint...and the unit is heating up nicely, better than first burn actually. Enjoying this stove. Nice design, Nice window to see through, and easy to clean out for the ash. Directions in booklet to us could use more info for burning. ie) might have to leave door partially open for the air to circulate up to 5 minutes ... This unit is easy to install. OH....only thing we did not understand is about putting the small gasket down on the side....we still don't get that part... Will be finding out. Home Depot cross matched price with a sale from another place. Thank you. We are going to enjoy this for sure this winter!

Shipping was easy and affordable. I was surprised to see how large the size of the stove was inside. Didn't need to shorten any of already cut lumber. I would recommend this product if you are looking for a good sized, well designed stove!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase This stove has been a great addition to our home. We have a 1900 era farm house. The home is very cold and leaky in the winter. We have very high winds and a lot of snow. We had the stove installed and it has been wonderful! Our home is 1900 sq ft, and it heats both the down stairs and the upstairs without a problem. We can even open a window at night for some fresh air. We have not yet used the blower, because we have not yet felt the need to use it. The window on the front did turn yellow, which is a small draw back for the wonderful heating power. The overall look of the stove is still good, and we are very pleased.
