Well it works a lot better than the 40 year old stove it replaced. Easy to clean out. You can burn 2 or 3 nights between cleaning out the ash pan. After the 2nd time firing it up, 2 problems appeared. The glass looks discolored and the fiberglass door insulation material frayed and charred. I expected better but at least both problems are confined to the door. Easy to adjust airflow to the flame. It really puts off a lot of heat. This is the kind of stove that gets too hot to touch. I wish the fan was automatic but It has a speed/on/off knob. Delivery was a hassle but Home Depot made it right without charging extra. It comes on a miniature pallet that is about 3 feet square. That pallet will fit through a doorway and the whole package is about 350 lbs. They ended up bringing it on a truck with a lift gate and used hand trucks to wheel it in.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Brystone Great performing well built quality stove !
First off let me say that i am a wood burning stove addict .. Just ask my wife and friends ...lol
I have purchased and used quite a few stoves not to mention purchase used ones, rebuild them then resell .. its like a hobby for me that i quite enjoy and they all have little perks of good and bad .. there are many things that will effect the performance ... chimney set up , proper draft , moisture content of firewood etc.. " wood must be dry as in seasoned " not green or fresh cut .. These stoves are efficient airtight units and if you try to burn wet green wood not only will you be frustrated , you will also promote some serious creosote buildup issues real quick from excessive smoke smoldering which can lead to potential chimney fires.. I purchased this stove due to fact it did have good positive reviews , the price really was great and after i checked it out in person i also determined this was a good built quality unit and was going to give it a try ..I honestly cant say anything negative about any of its features that it has to offer ..
Now keep in mind i use dry wood as in seasoned for a one year minimum .. Once i get a small fire started i add a few small pieces of spilts like within a 2inch by 4 inch diameter which is my personal preference .. once fire has been established, which only takes a few minutes then i close door completely and adjust damper slide control accordingly .. be careful not to overload the fire box area .. remember different wood types burn hotter and more aggressive then others .. For me my average fire is about four to five pieces of smaller splits like i mentioned above with air control setting at about halfway to 3/4 closed for great producing heat .. These adjustments can vary depending on how well your draft is based by your chimney setup etc .. Mine is straight up approx 9ft to vaulted ceiling then exits through roof for another 4ft out of peek ridge area .. Like i said draft rates can easily vary .. So how does this stove perform ? EXCELLENT .. The secondary burn feature works absolutely perfect with a mesmerizing effect." Actually better then a high priced stove i had on the past "...The fire gently rolls along the upper portion of stove like a cloud where the air tubes are located burning the secondary smoke .. Now the big question that everybody asks , will it hold a fire overnight ?? For me i have to load it up around 11 or midnight to still have some red hot coals by 5 to 6am .. I personally dont like damping it down all the way down .. for one , it reduces the heat output and two the fire can smolder more producing more of a chance for potential creosote buildup etc ..You will get different burn rates from different people due to how they operate the stove I also recommend using a heat thermometer on the the stove so you can adjust its burn rate accordingly ..Im very picky with my stoves and i clean my glass every few days with glass cleaner to keep it crystal clear .. the ash pan is a great feature to have although for me i only have to clean out stove about once a month if that .. this stove burns really great with minimal ash left over .. ..Now ,.things to consider when buying a stove ... number is the " model size " as in what size would work properly for the area you wish to heat .. people often buy a stove based on price and appearance and overlook its realistic output .. Ok so i rambled on enough and i must say again this is a great stove especially for the price . Remember only burn firewood " dry seasoned " no cardboard or other things that can seriously damage the stove , keep your stove pipe and chimney flue cleaned on a regular basis .. I do mine beginning of season and halfway through season not to mention a few visual views down the chimney just to be safe .. If you can't do this on your own .. I highly advise you to get a reputable professional .. Wood stoves are a tremendous cozy heat source but also require yearly maintenance.. This stove gets a two thumbs up !!

great stove. really puts out the heat and heats our 2000 square foot 1800s 2 story farm house great. the only thing we would change is the ash drawer is too small and has to be emptied often. other than that its a great stove. also looks very nice and is really nice and relaxing to sit on the couch and watch the fire through the glass door. our last stove was a mountaineer and this one is by far much nicer and much better quality. we can load it at night ,go to bed,and stay warm all night. in the morning there are plenty of hot coals left to easily restart the fire. would definitely recommend this stove for both looks, quality and functional ability

bought and installed two weeks ago. Have had previous wood stove for more than 15 years and used for primary heat in winter. the stove I have is the model 2000. The only way we can get a good burn is with the door open a crack, if closed it starves for air with the damper wide open

I did some research before I bought this stove, one of the cons I read about it was the fire box is too small, not true, its much larger than my last stove. The stove is good looking and well built. I had it delivered to a local Home Depot store and it was there before the estimated delivery date. We have had some small fires in it and it seems to heat well, the blower fan is quiet, the real test will be in the winter when it is freezing outside. The only con I have is when you first start the stove it doesn't have a good draft, but as the stove heats up the draft improves.

Stove is reasonably nice... from there it is not all that good, the outside combustion air kit that is supposed to be for this model will not work on it there is no way to connect it inside stove as directions call for. Next problem is the "floor Protector" dimensions are fine if you have a lot of room, but they call for 26 inches in front of stove so with all other requirements it is going to intrude 5 feet into your room, they will not back off on that number.. All other stoves I looked at call for 16 inches in front.. probably return this one and look elsewhere for my stove... Heats good but to install in Oregon need to follow exactly manufacturers specs.

This stove has been a great addition to our home. We have a 1900 era farm house. The home is very cold and leaky in the winter. We have very high winds and a lot of snow. We had the stove installed and it has been wonderful! Our home is 1900 sq ft, and it heats both the down stairs and the upstairs without a problem. We can even open a window at night for some fresh air. We have not yet used the blower, because we have not yet felt the need to use it. The window on the front did turn yellow, which is a small draw back for the wonderful heating power. The overall look of the stove is still good, and we are very pleased.
