We recommend Anthracite & Bituminous Coal. in lump or chunk. Pea coal and Rice coal are designed for Auger fed systems and will fall though the grate systems on this stove.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by USSC 1602R Wood Furnace This furnace exceeded my expectations with heating a 3000 sq. ft. house at 0 degrees F, using my existing ductwork. It can easily keep my entire house at 70+ degrees. The construction of the fire box is solid, but the overall unit, in my opinion is built to "adequate" standards... blowers are built in China and Mexico. For someone who has only heated with a woodstove, I would have liked more documentation/instruction on proper operation, with an explanation of how the limiting switch functions with the draft blower and primary blowers. I recommend to start out with a SMALL fire first, so you don't overfire, which is, unfortunately what I did. February 21, 2011
