I've had mine over a year. It's well made and handsome. It is a stand alone furnace in my basement. I added a barometric damper and she is very steady. Mine came with the draft inducer and was still less expensive than this season. That little blower is great. Easiest fire I ever built. I also added the Stainless water loop. Endless hot water just when you need it.
I haven't tried coal but I do not doubt that it will burn well once established. Can put out a lot of heat from wood for about ten hours. Do NOT forget to close down the excess draft from the ash door once it gets going or the fans may not keep the unit cool. (I overheated my limit switch).

The stove itself is not bad. However the customer service at US stove company is the worst I have ever seen from any company.
I purchased this stove, then bought the hot water coil kit also from US stove to use the stove to heat the water to my water heater. The coil kit was pretty pricy for what was included with it, but where the problem came in for me was the method that I needed to use was the circulating pump method because of the distance from the stove to the hot water heater. And required a circulating pump and an aquastat. All I wanted to find out was what temperature rating of a circulating pump would I need to make sure it didn't melt or something, and also what the mechanics behind the aquastat were for this particular installation method. well, this was 2 weeks ago I started trying to get ahold of US Stove to get my answers, and stillI have got absolutely nothing from them. after many many calls and waiting on hold for someone to actually talk to, only the be transferred to nothingness or random voice mails where nobody answered and even calls during regular business hours where I could not even reach a receptionist. Also The 2 times I actually was able to reach a human being, the first time they told me that even though it is their coil kit, they purchase it from an outside company and know nothing about it and said I would have to call that company. When I asked for that companys phone number, they gave me a bogus phone number that never rang and went straight to a voice mail than simply said "leave a message". there was no, thanks for calling so and so company. So after that dead end , lead me to the second time after many many calls and sitting on hold a whole lot, to reach someone fineally and explain what happened, then they told me they could help me, to hold for a minute, then I got disconnected. I have even left a message 4 days ago with their customer service voice mail explaining my frustration and what information I am trying to find out , and have still not received a call back yet.
