Customer Questions & Answers

How do you heat this to this high temp

Asked by: Help
Having just done so, I suggest using a camp stove. A smaller one such as an MSR is perfect as it provides an intense flame that is entirely contained to the bottom of the container.

can this cold pour?

Asked by: dpon
No. Cold it is hard as a rock. The whole point of this product is that it is a hot pour product just like those used by professionals.

Pot/can

Does this kit contain a pot/can with a handle to melt the material in? Also what is the coverage like, how many cracks will it do?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I am not sure why this product has received poor reviews. I heated mine on an MSR white gas camp stove with wind deflector. The product heated up very rapidly and poured and spread perfectly. Having tried Pli-Stix which was cumbersome, slow and spread poorly USEAL is quite a find.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Filling driveway cracks Used this to fill some large cracks and it is just great. The prep. time is well worth the outcome as it looks and feels like a pro.did the job.Do suggest buying a single burner camping stove( $ 32.00 at Dicks) as it brings the tar to a boil, making the application more sucessfull.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Product is ok, but .... As one reviewer had mentioned, it takes at least 60 minutes to properly liquify this sealant (the directions say 30-35 minutes). Also, this will not fill as much as the box claims. Once it's liquified and ready to poor, you still need to constantly be stirring it. Due to evaporation and the product starting to dry and stick to the inside edges of the canister, you definitely lose sealant. Overall it's not a bad product as it seems to have filled some cracks adequately, but the preparation process/heating and wasted product at the end make it not worth it in my opinion. I'm heading back to the store tomorrow to buy some backer rod. .

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so good I've tried all the latex repair kits with poor results. The crack stix worked OK but a lot of work and thought this would be better. The reviews were mixed on this product but wanted to try. I got the double pack on-line. I work in a lab and am very familiar with working with difficult materials, and also had access to heat gloves and an electric hot plate. Even the it was very difficult. You need to get it REALLY hot for it to flow, and even then it has a limited working time until it sets up, then back on the hot plate.. It was a real mess. The mixing blade and putty knife also set up, so had to keep getting those warm so could clean them off also. Once poured it quickly set up so lots of puddles and streaks, and this was an 85F day! It still feels rubbery so hopefully will harden up more. I am medium to advanced DIY, but next time would do the crack-stix or hire a pro (which is a pretty strong statement for me as I hate spending $!).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage While it seems like a great product in theory, it isn't. The first one I bought the plastic poorer was all cracked from shipping, because it is made of a really brittle and cheap hard plastic. It takes forever to heat up, and the stuff never really dried...which is apparently an ongoing issue they have because they give detailed directions of how to deal with this issue. You also can't pour the stuff into smaller cracks without making a big mess. Don't waste your time or money. Next I am trying the sticks that you heat with a torch. at least if they don't work good it won;t haunt me with a sticky mess forever.
