I have a swamp mounted swamp cooler....its now about 12 years old and when it rains enough water comes out of the hallway vent inside the house to fill a dutch oven pan. I believe the rain is going down the roof right under the cooler and into the hole cut into the roof. All I know is I need to stop this asap!

You can either nail it fast to the roof and/or peel off the backing to the adhesive on the underneath side and press it down on the roof. When you want to remove it remove the nails and/or use a putty knife to separate the adhesive from the roof.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by dont bother Sent back for refund took forever to get here and I ended up using a real tarp and lumber....still waiting for my credit refund on credit card account...may have to file a claim with card co if no response from home depot December 16, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not worth it This a regular thin plastic tarp material, with an adhesive strip around the edges. I was assuming it would be some super sticky adhesive, it is not. I have a metal roof and in some places it did not stick at all. I purchased at half off the full price, and thought that was too much. December 15, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Roof tarp The tarp itself is your basic material. The tape or adhesive around the outside edge is another story. This seems to be a very good adhesive. It's about 3" wide around the whole outside edge of the tarp. Don't remove the tape ahead of time. It is very sticky, follow the instructions. It sticks to the roof nicely, but not sure how much heat (Like the Texas sun) it can take before it loosens. There are also grommets that you can either tie it down with or put screws through to hold it down. For a quick fix with minimal tools this works fine. For a longer fix I can't stay how it holds up to heat in the summer time. For the price I think it is well worth it. October 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great weather proofing tarp Used this tarp on my brothers roof who recently had some bad weather damage to his roof and due to the holidays and his budget was unable to deal with the leak. He and I both installed the tarp on his roof. It advertises as a one man job but I would recommend two. The self adhesive tape is very good so you want to put it down right the first time. The tarp is very durable and as I said the tape sticks very well so we were able to temporally fix the leak in his roof which makes me very satisfied with this product. We have seen some strong winds in the two weeks since installing it and it is still holding strong. December 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Large and Effective The size of this tarp really helps in a lot of different situations. We were able to put it on the floor when doing touch up painting with no fears of paint dropping onto any of our hardwood floors as this was a large and easy-to-maneuver tarp. Also, we were able to use this outdoors in shielding the front window of my car from getting iced during the recent snowstorm. It was able to keep all 8 inches of snow and ice off the front window of my car and is durable enough that I will be able to use it for many other projects around the house. February 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Waterproof Tarp for Any Application I used this tarp to permanently cover my chicken coup, since the one I had on there was over a year old and starting to rip in spots where it was stapled down, but it never leaked anywhere on the roof. These are great tarps for keeping water out of anywhere. I have it on top of a 10x10ft. plywood roof. It drapes down the sides slightly, so I know no water is getting under the plywood anywhere. Its strong and holds up to whatever winter throws at it. As long as its secured well and no corners flap in the wind, it does an excellent job. I had a larger one of these that I temporarily used for construction debris during a building job in the summer of 2013 and it held up well to contain all the scrap wood, nails, & screws from getting scattered around my yard. It never ripped after we walked on it and dragged it over the driveway gravel. I rinsed it off with the hose and put it away for the next big job. December 7, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do Not Waste Your Money and Time Tarp is thin, but I had it placed on the roof after reading other reviews. It lasted 6 days and during that time there were no storms. The tarp did not tear, the adhesive isn't holding and the tarp is coming off. Waste of money and time. October 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Blue roofing tarp I was very pleased with the ease of applying the tarp, even with the damp conditions at the time. It's working beautifully. October 14, 2014
