Got a hole in your roof?
This is a high quality tarp with STICKY EDGES. You can temporarily cover a damaged roof, QUICKLY, without a hammer, and without nail-damage to complicate later repair.
This would normally be used immediately after a storm. It happened that I had a hole in a shed roof, not an emergency, so a good chance to try UTARPit before a real emergency. The roof was corrugated tarboard, a very tough job. The whole roof has to be replaced, but it would be nice if I can get-by until next summer.
The valleys were full of dirt so I wire-brushed them sorta-clean. Then I rough-spread the UTARPit to find the center of the top. I tore-off the center of the protective paper over the sticky-edge, and worked it into the top center corrugations. It stuck real good, and easy. I worked to the left side, then peeled the side-strip a foot at a time and worked that down the side. Shift the ladder to the right and stuck the top and other side, then across the bottom. Total time, 22 minutes, including taking pictures. No tools or nails to haul-up, spill, or make more damage in the roof (not that I care here, but often a storm damages a good roof and you prefer not to damage it further with temporary cover-ups).
The attached pictures show the hole, part-done, and all done.
BUT-- This is an "emergency" product. It should be clearly packaged and readily available after a storm. Instead the packaging artwork is a mess of fonts and irrelevant words on pointless backgrounds. It doesn't SHOUT what it is good for. "Got a hole in your roof? UTARPit!" And at this time Home Depot only offers it Special Order, which means you must schedule your hurricane at least 2 weeks in advance. While I suppose some wise folks will plan-ahead and be prepared, it really should be IN the H-D, and stacked near the door ASAP after any major storm.

i didn't focus on the title of the product - which is "roofing" tarp and thought it was a tarp. however it is a very thin small piece of tarp. what makes it unique and probably only good to cover over a roofing job while it is unfinished is the extra strong adhesive running along the edges. once you peel off the tape however make sure that you are firmly gripping the tarp. if not the pieces of the tarp may touch where the adhesive is and you cannot pry it apart! also i would assume that this is a one time use only in terms of the adhesive. in all other respects it is a regular tarp with holes for rope so i guess you can reuse it without the adhesive.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by PersnicketyME Must have for your emergency kit!
This tarp is a must have for any emergency kit. The durable and light weight material seems sturdy enough to keep out the worst elements. The adhesive that surrounds the perimeter of the tarp is covered by a wide strip of waxy paper for packaging and seems to be super industrial strength. I mean really! Don't get this stuff on your fingers as I'm not exactly sure how to get any residue off. I recommend peeling and sticking one side at a time as once this stuff goes down, it's not exactly easy to reposition because it's stuck on whatever surface it touches. This is clearly a good thing to battle high winds and to keep the tarp in place but not so great for your manicure! I recommend having one of these handy to cover a broken window or leaky roof especially in storm prone areas.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by wargodra Great product, easy to install
I bought the Utarp to cover a leak on my roof. It was so easy! No need to carry heavy blocks to the roof to hold. It sticks to the roof and you are done. No more leak. Why didn't someone think of this before?
