Answer:
Definitely. This is the perfect insulation for a garage. The room where I put this insulation has no heat source or air-conditioner vents, much like a garage.
I have felt a 15-degree improvement in the temperature in both winter and summer months. So, the room is 15-degrees warmer than it used to be in winter, and 15-degrees cooler in the summer from BEFORE the insulation was installed.

I only used 1-layer so it's considered an R-8 insulation value. You could double up the layers and get more protection, if needed. I didn't need any protective clothing or eye-wear when I handled it. Read Less

I want to install in between floor joists in an unfinished basement under bedrooms to keep sound from transferring from the basement to the bedroom, however I do not want to drywall/cover my basement ceiling yet. Is this product safe to leave uncovered?

Answer:
Yes. It can be installed without protective clothing or eye wear. It's made from recycled denim (blue jeans) and has no toxic chemicals. Great choice if you aren't adding dry wall.

Answer:
Yes, it is fine if left uncovered, however, it does not block sound, it absorbs sound trapped in a dead airspace (i.e. between layers of mass). Adding the DB3 product to the bottom of the joists with this between joists would be an effective noise barrier.

Answer:
This is made from 100% recycled denim (blue jeans); and denim is mold-, mildew-, and fungi-resistant. But, it is not moisture resistant. If your jeans can get wet, so can the insulation. It just won't grow bad microbes very well, unless left wet for months or years at a time.

According to the manufacturer (Bonded Logic), this product has been treated with a non-toxic mold and mildew inhibitor. It also has a class A fire rating (low combustibility) so no worries on fire either.

I live in an older apt building. It has a central boiler for heating. There are a couple of pipes running from floor to ceiling in the kitchen area. I would like to wrap them to prevent any possible injury from the very hot water steam lines. Will this product be suitable for this?

I would think this would be an excellent solution for your specific issue; the product does not contain itchy fibers and is resistant to mold and mildew. I would use this for my steam pipes, if I had any!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product for my application I am converting an old Toyota Sienna into a 1 man camper. I removed the back panels and stuffed this product into every hollow space and there are plenty. No itch and easy to work with. Price was reasonable. I did have to special order it. Not sure why it's not stocked. I will be buying more as the project progresses. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great damping material for speaker enclosures. I've used this denim insulation for a lot of my speaker cabinets, and this stuff works pretty well. You have to be creative at cutting the material to size. Other than that, no complaints. Definitely work nicely for my Volt-6 coaxials I assembled. :) December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for mini van insulation I'm converting an old Sienna van to a 1 person dry camper. I pulled all the side/door panels and stuffed this everywhere. No itch but some dust. It works great and I will probably be getting more. As. A side note, if I was purchasing a new van I would pull all the panels and add this. There was almost no factory insulation in my van. June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stuff for sound abosorption I loved working it! Super soft and sucks up the sound. June 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well in a dead vent systen I used this is a recording/practice studio dead vent for sound isolation. I was a little worried about fibers blowing out - but so far I haven't detected any (besides the initial loose junk when I first turned on the in-line fan). This application used 12 bags. After a few attempts at cutting using various things, I ended up using a sharp carving knife to first cut it in half (while it was still in the bag). For small cuts/shaping/etc you can just tear it by hand. Soft and fluffy, no lint or air particles/fibers for the most part (unlike fiberglass bats). I was surprised at how well this system works for moving air and reducing sound transmission between the adjoining room. July 26, 2015
